1 Ein Psalm Asaphs. O Gott, es sind Heiden in dein Erbe eingedrungen; die haben deinen heiligen Tempel verunreinigt und Jerusalem zu Steinhaufen gemacht! 2 Sie haben die Leichname deiner Knechte den Vögeln des Himmels zur Speise gegeben, das Fleisch deiner Frommen den wilden Tieren; 3 sie haben deren Blut vergossen wie Wasser, rings um Jerusalem her, und niemand begräbt sie. 4 Wir sind ein Hohn für unsre Nachbarn und vor unsrer Umgebung zu Spott und Schanden geworden! 5 Wie lange soll das noch währen, o HERR? Willst du ewiglich zürnen? Soll dein Eifer wie Feuer brennen? 6 Gieße deinen Grimm über die Heiden aus, die dich nicht kennen, und über die Königreiche, die deinen Namen nicht anrufen! 7 Denn sie haben Jakob gefressen und seine Wohnung verwüstet. 8 Rechne uns nicht die Verschuldungen unsrer Vorfahren an; dein Erbarmen komme uns bald entgegen; denn wir sind sehr geschwächt! 9 Hilf uns, du Gott unsres Heils, um der Ehre deines Namens willen, und rette uns und vergib uns unsre Sünden um deines Namens willen! 10 Warum sollen die Heiden sagen: «Wo ist nun ihr Gott?» Laß unter den Heiden kundwerden vor unsern Augen die Rache für das vergossene Blut deiner Knechte! 11 Laß vor dich kommen das Seufzen der Gefangenen; bewahre durch deinen gewaltigen Arm die dem Tode Geweihten, 12 und vergilt unsern Nachbarn siebenfältig in ihren Busen die Lästerungen, womit sie dich, Herr, gelästert haben! 13 Wir aber, dein Volk und die Schafe deiner Weide, wollen dir ewiglich danken und deinen Ruhm erzählen von Geschlecht zu Geschlecht.
