1 Til korlederen: En sang af David. 2 Himlen vidner om Guds herlighed,universet udtrykker hans underfulde skaberkraft. 3 Dag efter dag forkynder solen Guds storhed.Nat efter nat vidner stjernerne derom. 4 Skaberværket taler ikke,der er ingen stemme at høre. 5 Og dog når budskabet til jordens ende,det kan ses overalt i verden. Solen fik sit hjemsted på himlen, 6 strålende som en brudgom bryder den frem,gennemløber sin bane med udholdenhed og glæde. 7 Den ene horisont er dens udgangspunkt,ved den anden når den sit mål.Intet undgår dens brændende varme. 8 Herrens lov er fuldkommen, giver sjælen styrke.Hans befalinger er troværdige, gør selv en tåbe vis. 9 Herrens anvisninger er gode, giver hjertet glæde.Hans forordninger er fuldkomne, giver indsigt og forstand. 10 Herrens ord er sande, står fast for altid.Hans vedtægter er gode og værd at følge. 11 De er mere værd end guld, ja selv det pureste guld,sødere end frisk honning, der drypper fra bikagen. 12 Dine tjenere bliver vejledt gennem dem,de, der adlyder dem, bliver rigt belønnet. 13 Herre, hvem kan se sine egne fejl?Straf mig ikke for ubevidste synder. 14 Bevar mig fra at synde med vilje,lad ikke mit begær få magten over mig.Da kan jeg stå uden skyld for dit ansigtog skal ikke dømmes for oprør imod dig. 15 Gid alt, hvad jeg siger med min mund,og alt, hvad jeg tænker i mit hjerte,er noget, du kan acceptere.Herre, du er den, der beskytter og udfrier mig.
