1 De David. Aleph. A toi, ô Eternel ! j'élève mon âme, 2 Beth. Mon Dieu, je me confie en toi. Que je ne sois point confus, Que mes ennemis ne triomphent pas à mon sujet ! 3 Guimel. Quiconque s'attend à toi ne sera pas confus. Ceux-là seront confus, qui agissent perfidement, sans cause. 4 Daleth. Eternel ! fais-moi connaître tes voies, Enseigne-moi tes sentiers ! 5 Hé, Vav Fais-moi marcher dans ta vérité, et m'enseigne, Car tu es le Dieu de mon salut, Je m'attends à toi tout le jour. 6 Zaïn. Souviens-toi de tes compassions, ô Eternel, et de tes gratuités, Car elles sont dès l'éternité. 7 Heth. Ne te souviens pas des fautes de ma jeunesse, Ni de mes transgressions. Souviens-toi de moi selon ta miséricorde, A cause de ta bonté, ô Eternel ! 8 Teth. L'Eternel est bon et juste ; C'est pourquoi il montre aux pécheurs le chemin ; 9 Iod. Il fait marcher les humbles dans la justice, Et il enseigne aux humbles sa voie. 10 Kaph. Tous les sentiers de l'Eternel sont miséricorde et fidélité, Pour ceux qui gardent son alliance et ses témoignages. 11 Lamed. A cause de ton nom, ô Eternel, tu pardonneras mon iniquité, Car elle est grande. 12 Mem. Qui est l'homme qui craint l'Eternel ? Il lui montrera la voie qu'il doit choisir. 13 Nun. Son âme reposera dans le bonheur, Et sa postérité héritera la terre. 14 Samech. Le secret de l'Eternel est pour ceux qui le craignent, Et son alliance pour les instruire. 15 Aïn. Mes yeux sont continuellement fixés sur l'Eternel, Car c'est lui qui tirera mes pieds du filet. 16 Pé. Tourne-toi vers moi, et aie pitié de moi, Car je suis seul et misérable. 17 Tsadé. Les angoisses de mon cœur ont augmenté, Fais-moi sortir de mes détresses ! 18 Resch. Regarde mon triste état et mon tourment, Et enlève tous mes péchés. 19 Resch. Regarde combien mes ennemis sont nombreux Et de quelle haine violente ils me haïssent. 20 Schin. Garde mon âme et délivre-moi. Que je ne sois pas confus, car je me suis réfugié auprès de toi. 21 Thav. Que l'intégrité et la droiture me protègent, Car je me suis attendu à toi. 22 Pé. O Dieu ! rachète Israël de toutes ses détresses !
