1 Hirão, rei de Tiro, mandou mensageiros a Davi, levando madeira de cedro, pedreiros e carpinteiros para lhe edificarem um palácio. 2 Então Davi percebeu que o SENHOR o tinha confirmado como rei sobre Israel, pois o seu reino tinha sido muito exaltado, por amor do seu povo, Israel. 3 Davi tomou outras mulheres em Jerusalém, e teve mais filhos e filhas. 4 Estes são os nomes dos filhos que lhe nasceram em Jerusalém: Samua, Sobabe, Natã, Salomão, 5 Ibar, Elisua, Elpelete, 6 Nogá, Nefegue, Jafia, 7 Elisama, Beeliada e Elifelete. 8 Quando os filisteus ouviram que Davi tinha sido ungido rei sobre todo o Israel, saíram à sua procura. Mas, ao saber disso, Davi logo saiu para atacá-los. 9 Os filisteus tinham vindo e invadido o vale de Refaim. 10 Então Davi consultou a Deus, perguntando: Atacarei os filisteus? Tu os entregarás nas minhas mãos? O SENHOR lhe disse: Ataca, pois eu os entregarei nas tuas mãos. 11 Os filisteus atacaram Baal-Perazim, onde Davi os derrotou. Davi disse: Deus rompeu os meus inimigos como as águas rompem barreiras, por intermédio da minha mão. Por isso, deram àquele lugar o nome de Baal-Perazim. 12 Eles deixaram ali os seus deuses, que foram incinerados, por ordem de Davi. 13 Mas os filisteus voltaram a invadir o vale. 14 Davi voltou a consultar a Deus, que lhe respondeu: Tu não os atacarás ali, mas dá a volta por trás e ataca-os na frente das amoreiras. 15 Quando ouvires um barulho de marcha pelas copas das amoreiras, sairás à luta, porque Deus terá saído adiante de ti para ferir o exército dos filisteus. 16 Davi fez como Deus havia ordenado, e eles derrotaram o exército dos filisteus, desde Gibeão até Gezer. 17 Assim, a fama de Davi se espalhou por todas aquelas terras, e o SENHOR fez com que todas aquelas nações tivessem medo dele.
