Psalms 38 (MNG)
1 Ein Psalm von David, bei Darbringung des Duftopfers. 2 HERR, nicht in deinem Zorne strafe mich, und nicht in deinem Ingrimm züchtige mich! (vgl. 6,2) 3 Denn deine Pfeile sind in mich eingedrungen, und deine Hand liegt schwer auf mir: 4 nichts ist gesund an meinem Leib ob deinem Zürnen, nichts heil an meinen Gliedern ob meiner Sünde. 5 Denn meine Missetaten schlagen mir über dem Haupt zusammen; wie eine schwere Last sind sie mir zu schwer geworden (= erdrücken sie mich). 6 Es faulen, es eitern meine Wunden infolge meiner Torheit (= Versündigung). 7 Ich bin gekrümmt, tief niedergebeugt; den ganzen Tag geh’ ich trauernd (= im Trauergewand) einher; 8 denn meine Lenden sind voll von Entzündung, und nichts ist unversehrt an meinem Leibe. 9 Erschöpft bin ich und ganz zerschlagen, ich schreie auf infolge des Stöhnens meines Herzens. 10 O Allherr, all mein Verlangen ist dir bekannt, und meine Seufzer sind dir nicht verborgen. 11 Mein Herz pocht stürmisch, meine Kraft hat mich verlassen, und das Licht meiner Augen, auch das ist dahin! 12 Meine Freunde und Genossen stehn abseits von meinem Elend, und meine nächsten Verwandten halten sich fern. 13 Die nach dem Leben mir trachten, legen mir Schlingen, und die mein Unglück suchen, verabreden Unheil und sinnen auf Trug den ganzen Tag. 14 Doch ich bin wie ein Tauber, höre es nicht, und bin wie ein Stummer, der den Mund nicht auftut; 15 ja, ich bin wie einer, der nicht hören kann und in dessen Mund keine Widerrede ist; 16 denn auf dich, HERR, warte ich: du wirst antworten (oder: mich erhören), o Allherr, mein Gott; 17 denn ich sage: »Daß sie nur nicht über mich frohlocken, nur nicht beim Wanken meines Fußes gegen mich großtun!« 18 Denn nahe bin ich am Zusammenbrechen, und mein Schmerz ist mir allezeit gegenwärtig. 19 Ach! Ich bekenne meine Schuld, bin bekümmert ob meiner Sünde! 20 Dagegen die ohne Grund mich befeinden, sind stark, und zahlreich sind, die ohn’ Ursach’ mich hassen, 21 und solche, die mir Gutes mit Bösem vergelten, sind meine Widersacher, weil fest am Guten ich halte. 22 Verlaß mich nicht, o HERR, mein Gott, sei nicht ferne von mir! 23 Eile zu meinem Schutz herbei, o Allherr, meine Rettung!
