Psalms 72 (NBS)
1 De Salomon. O Dieu, donne au roi tes jugements, au fils du roi ta justice ! 2 Il jugera ton peuple avec justice et tes pauvres selon l’équité. 3 Les montagnes porteront la paix pour le peuple, et les collines – avec la justice. 4 Il fera droit aux pauvres du peuple, il sauvera les fils du déshérité et il écrasera l’oppresseur. 5 On te craindra tant que subsistera le soleil, tant que paraîtra la lune, de génération en génération. 6 Il descendra comme une pluie qui tombe sur un terrain fauché, comme des ondées qui arrosent la terre. 7 En ses jours, le juste fleurira, et la paix abondera jusqu’à ce qu’il n’y ait plus de lune. 8 Il dominera d’une mer à l’autre, et du Fleuve aux extrémités de la terre. 9 Devant lui, les habitants du désert fléchiront le genou, et ses ennemis lécheront la poussière. 10 Les rois de Tarsis et des îles apporteront des offrandes, les rois de Saba et de Seba offriront des présents. 11 Tous les rois se prosterneront devant lui, toutes les nations lui seront soumises. 12 Car il délivrera le déshérité qui appelle à l’aide et le pauvre qui n’a aucun secours. 13 Il aura pitié du faible et du déshérité, il sauvera la vie des déshérités ; 14 il les rédimera de l’oppression et de la violence, et leur sang aura du prix à ses yeux. 15 Qu’il vive, et qu’on lui donne de l’or de Saba ! Qu’on prie pour lui sans cesse, qu’on le bénisse constamment ! 16 Il y aura abondance de blé dans le pays, au sommet des montagnes son fruit frémira comme le Liban, et de la ville les hommes s’épanouiront comme l’herbe de la terre. 17 Son nom subsistera toujours ; aussi longtemps que le soleil, son nom se perpétuera. Par lui on se bénira, toutes les nations le déclareront heureux. 18 Béni soit le Seigneur Dieu, le Dieu d’Israël, qui, lui seul, fait des choses étonnantes ! 19 Béni soit pour toujours son nom glorieux ! Que toute la terre soit remplie de sa gloire ! Qu’il en soit ainsi ! Qu’il en soit ainsi ! 20 Fin des prières de David, fils de Jessé.
