1 Tôi thấy một thiên sứ uy dũng khác từ trời xuống, mình mặc mây trời, đầu đội cầu vồng, mặt sáng rực như mặt trời, chân như trụ lửa. 2 Thiên sứ cầm trên tay một cuốn sách mở ra, đặt chân phải trên biển, chân trái trên đất, 3 và kêu lên một tiếng lớn như tiếng gầm sư tử, liền có bảy tiếng sấm đáp lời. 4 Khi bảy tiếng sấm vang ra, tôi định chép lại liền nghe tiếng nói từ trời: “Phải giữ kín những điều bảy tiếng sấm nói ra, đừng ghi chép.” 5 Thiên sứ đứng trên biển và đất đưa tay phải lên trời. 6 Thiên sứ thề trước Đấng hằng sống đời đời, Đấng sáng tạo trời cùng mọi vật trên trời, đất cùng mọi vật dưới đất, biển cùng mọi vật trong biển rằng: “Sắp hết thời hạn rồi! 7 Ngày nào thiên sứ thứ bảy thổi kèn. Đức Chúa Trời sẽ hoàn tất chương trình huyền nhiệm của Ngài, như đã báo trước cho các đầy tớ Ngài, là các tiên tri.” 8 Tiếng nói từ trời lại bảo tôi: “Đi lấy cuộn sách mở ra trên tay thiên sứ đứng trên biển và đất.” 9 Tôi đến bên thiên sứ xin cuộn sách.
