2 Chronicles 27 (BPH)

1 Jotam var 25 år, da han blev konge, og han regerede i Jerusalem i 16 år. Hans mor hed Jerusha, en datter af Zadok. 2 Han gjorde, hvad der var ret i Herrens øjne, som hans far Uzzija havde gjort—og han dristede sig ikke til at gå ind i Herrens tempel. Alligevel fremturede folket i deres ugudelighed. 3 Jotam byggede nordporten i Herrens tempel, og han genopbyggede bymuren ved Ofelhøjen, hvor templet lå. 4 Desuden byggede han flere byer i Judas bjergland, og han byggede fæstninger og udkigstårne i skovene. 5 Han førte krig mod ammonitterne og besejrede dem. I de følgende tre år måtte de svare ham en årlig skat på 3,5 tons sølv, 10.000 sække hvede og 10.000 sække byg. 6 Jotam blev således en magtfuld konge, for han adlød omhyggeligt Herren, sin Gud. 7 Resten af Jotams liv og virke og hans krige med andre konger er beskrevet i Israels og Judas kongers krønikebog. 8 Som sagt var han 25 år, da han blev konge, og han regerede i Jerusalem i 16 år. 9 Da han døde, blev han begravet i Davidsbyen. Hans søn Ahaz blev konge efter ham.
