Isaiah 46 (LBA)
1 Bel est tombé, Nébo chancelle ; les animaux et les bêtes de somme emportent leurs images ; ces idoles, que vous portiez, chargent de leur poids les bêtes fatiguées. 2 Ils ont chancelé, ils sont tombés ensemble ; ils n'ont pu sauver le fardeau, et eux-mêmes s'en vont en captivité. 3 Ecoutez-moi, maison de Jacob, et vous, tous les restes de la maison d'Israël, vous dont je me suis chargé dès votre naissance, que j'ai portés dès le sein de votre mère ! 4 Je serai le même jusqu'à votre vieillesse ; jusqu'à vos cheveux blancs je vous porterai ! C'est moi qui l'ai fait, et c'est moi qui soutiendrai, et c'est moi qui porterai et qui délivrerai ! 5 A qui me comparerez-vous, et de qui me ferez-vous l'égal ? A côté de qui me mettrez-vous, que nous soyons pareils ? 6 Ils tirent l'or de leur bourse et pèsent l'argent à la balance ; ils engagent un fondeur afin qu'il en fasse un dieu pour se prosterner et l'adorer. 7 Ils le lèvent, ils le portent sur l'épaule et le posent en son lieu ; et il s'y tient sans bouger de sa place ; on criera même à lui, et il ne répondra pas ; il ne sauvera personne de la détresse. 8 Réfléchissez-y, et montrez-vous hommes ; rebelles, rentrez en-vous-mêmes ! 9 Rappelez-vous les choses passées, les jours d'autrefois ; que c'est moi qui suis Dieu, et qu'il n'y en a point d'autre ; que je suis Dieu, et que nul n'est semblable à moi ! 10 Moi qui dès le commencement annonce la fin, et longtemps à l'avance ce qui n'est pas encore ; qui dis : Mon dessein subsistera, et je ferai toute ma volonté ! 11 Qui appelle d'Orient l'aigle, d'un pays éloigné l'homme de mon dessein ; j'ai parlé, j'accomplirai ! j'ai résolu, j'exécuterai ! 12 Ecoutez-moi, hommes au cœur fier, qui êtes loin de la justice ! 13 Je fais approcher ma justice ; elle n'est pas loin, et mon salut ne tardera pas ; je donnerai le salut à Sion, ma gloire à Israël.
