Pourquoi te glorifies-tu de ta méchanceté, homme puissant ? La bonté de Dieu dure à toujours. 2 Ta langue n'invente que ruine, C'est un rasoir affilé, elle ne dit que fourberie. 3 Tu aimes le mal plus que le bien, Le mensonge plus que la droiture. (Jeu d'instruments.) 4 Tu aimes toutes les paroles de destruction, Langue trompeuse ! 5 Aussi Dieu te détruira pour toujours, Il te saisira et t'arrachera de ta tente, Il te déracinera de la terre des vivants. (Jeu d'instruments.) 6 Les justes le verront, et ils craindront, Et ils riront à son sujet : 7 Le voilà, l'homme qui n'avait point pris Dieu pour asile, Qui se confiait en ses grandes richesses Et mettait sa force en sa méchanceté. 8 Mais moi, je suis comme un olivier verdoyant Dans la maison de Dieu, Je me confie en la bonté de Dieu A toujours et à perpétuité. 9 Je te louerai toujours, parce que tu as fait cela ; Et je veux espérer en ton nom, car il est propice, En présence de tes fidèles.
