Psalms 17 (MNG)
1 Ein Gebet Davids. Höre, o HERR, die gerechte Sache, merk’ auf mein lautes Rufen, vernimm mein Gebet von Lippen ohne Trug! 2 Von dir soll das Urteil über mich ergehn: deine Augen sehen untrüglich. 3 Prüfst du mein Herz, siehst du nach mir bei Nacht, durchforschest du mich: du findest nichts Böses; mein Mund macht sich keines Vergehens schuldig. 4 Beim Treiben der Menschen hab’ ich nach deiner Lippen Wort gemieden die Pfade der Gewalttätigen. 5 Meine Schritte haben sich fest an deine Bahnen gehalten, meine Tritte haben nicht gewankt. 6 Ich rufe zu dir, denn du erhörst mich, o Gott: neige dein Ohr mir zu, vernimm meine Rede (= mein Gebet)! 7 Erweise mir deine Wundergnade, du Retter derer, die vor Widersachern Zuflucht suchen bei deiner Rechten! 8 Behüte mich wie den Stern im Auge, birg mich im Schatten deiner Flügel 9 vor den Frevlern, die mir Gewalt antun, vor meinen Feinden, die voll Gier mich umringen! 10 Ihr gefühlloses Herz halten sie verschlossen, ihr Mund stößt vermessene Reden aus. 11 Auf Schritt und Tritt lauern sie jetzt uns auf, richten ihr Trachten darauf, uns zu Boden zu werfen; 12 sie gleichen dem Löwen, der gierig ist zu rauben (oder: zu zerreißen), und dem jungen Leu, der da lauert im Versteck. 13 Erhebe dich, HERR, tritt ihm entgegen, strecke ihn nieder! Errette mein Leben mit deinem Schwert vor dem Frevler, 14 mit deiner Hand, o HERR, vor den Menschen, vor den Leuten dieser Welt, deren Teil im Leben ist! Mit deinem Aufgesparten (= deiner Vergeltung) fülle ihren Bauch! Mögen ihre Söhne satt daran werden und ihren Überrest wieder ihren Kindern hinterlassen! 15 Doch ich in Gerechtigkeit (= ein Gerechter) darf dein Angesicht schauen, darf satt mich sehn beim Erwachen an deinem Bilde (oder: Anblick).
