1 1-2 Til korlederen: En sang af David, efter at profeten Natan havde konfronteret ham med hans affære med Batsheba. 3 Vær mig nådig, oh, Gud, og tilgiv mig,for du er barmhjertig og trofast. 4 Forbarm dig over mig og tilgiv min synd,så jeg kan begynde på en frisk. 5 Jeg ved, at jeg har handlet forkert,min synd plager mig dag og nat. 6 Det er først og fremmest dig, jeg har syndet imod,det er dine bud, jeg har overtrådt.Du anklager mig med rette,din dom er retfærdig. 7 Jeg har været en synder fra fødslen af,været skyldig, siden jeg blev undfanget. 8 Du ønsker at se et oprigtigt hjerte,du længes efter at lære mig visdom. 9 Stænk vand på mig og rens mig fra min skyld,så jeg bliver ren som nyfalden sne. 10 Jeg føler mig knust på grund af din straf,men jeg ser frem til at blive glad igen. 11 Bliv ikke ved at stirre på min synd,men tilgiv mig og udslet min skyld. 12 Giv mig et rent hjerte, oh, Gud,og skab en ny ånd i mit indre. 13 Skub mig ikke væk fra din nærhed,tag ikke din Helligånd fra mig. 14 Lad mig igen glædes over din frelse,og giv mig et lydigt hjerte. 15 Så vil jeg lære syndere dine bud,så de omvender sig til dig. 16 Lad mig ikke dø, selv om jeg er skyldig i drab,men frels mig, så jeg kan synge om din tilgivelse. 17 Giv mig noget godt at fortælle om,så jeg kan lovprise dig og give dig ære. 18 Du er ikke interesseret i slagtofre,mine brændofre formilder dig ikke. 19 Det offer, du ønsker, er en ydmyg ånd,du længes efter at se et angrende hjerte. 20 Se også i nåde til Zion.Genopbyg Jerusalems mure. 21 Derefter kan du glæde dig over vore ofre,både brændofre og helofre.Vi vil ofre vore tyre på dit alter.
