1 Du chef de chœur. Psaume. De David. 2 Lorsque Nathan, le prophète, vint à lui, après que David fut allé avec Bethsabée. 3 O Dieu, fais-moi grâce, selon ta fidélité ; selon ta grande compassion, efface mes transgressions ! 4 Lave-moi complètement de ma faute, purifie-moi de mon péché ! 5 Car je connais mes transgressions, et mon péché est constamment devant moi. 6 Envers toi, toi seul, j’ai péché ; j’ai fait ce qui te déplaisait, de sorte que tu seras juste dans ta parole, sans reproche dans ton jugement. 7 Je suis né dans la faute, ma mère m’a conçu dans le péché. 8 Mais tu prends plaisir à la loyauté dans le fond du cœur ; au plus secret de moi-même, fais-moi connaître la sagesse ! 9 Ote mon péché avec l’hysope, et je serai pur ; lave-moi, et je serai plus blanc que la neige. 10 Annonce-moi la gaieté et la joie, et les os que tu as écrasés seront dans l’allégresse. 11 Détourne-toi de mes péchés, efface toutes mes fautes. 12 Crée en moi un cœur pur, ô Dieu, rends à nouveau le souffle sûr en moi. 13 Ne me rejette pas loin de toi, ne me prends pas ton souffle sacré. 14 Rends-moi la gaieté de ton salut, et qu’un souffle généreux me soutienne ! 15 J’apprendrai tes voies à ceux qui se révoltent, et les pécheurs reviendront à toi. 16 O Dieu, Dieu de mon salut, délivre-moi du sang, et ma langue criera ta justice. 17 Seigneur, ouvre mes lèvres, et ma bouche dira ta louange. 18 Car tu ne prends pas plaisir au sacrifice – sinon, j’en offrirais ; tu n’agrées pas l’holocauste. 19 Les sacrifices de Dieu, c’est un esprit brisé : un cœur brisé, écrasé, ô Dieu, tu ne le méprises pas. 20 Dans ta faveur, fais du bien à Sion, bâtis les murs de Jérusalem ! 21 Alors tu prendras plaisir aux sacrifices de justice – holocaustes et offrandes totales. Alors on offrira des taureaux sur ton autel.
