1 Dithyrambe de David, qu'il chanta à l'Eternel au sujet des paroles de Cusch, Benjamite. Eternel, mon Dieu, je me réfugie vers toi ; Sauve-moi de tous ceux qui me persécutent, et délivre-moi, 2 De peur qu'il ne déchire mon âme comme un lion Qui met en pièces, sans que personne délivre ! 3 Eternel, mon Dieu, si j'ai fait cela... S'il y a de l'iniquité dans mes mains, 4 Si j'ai rendu le mal à celui qui était en paix avec moi... Au contraire, j'ai délivré celui qui me persécutait sans cause ; 5 Que l'ennemi poursuive mon âme et l'atteigne ; qu'il foule à terre ma vie, Et qu'il couche ma gloire dans la poussière ! (Jeu d'instruments.) 6 Lève-toi, Eternel ! dans ta colère élève-toi contre les fureurs de mes ennemis. Réveille-toi en ma faveur, toi qui as ordonné le jugement. 7 Que l'assemblée des peuples t'environne ; Reprends ta place au-dessus d'elle dans les hauts lieux. 8 L'Eternel juge les peuples. Fais-moi justice, ô Eternel ! Qu'il me soit fait selon ma justice et mon intégrité ! 9 Que la méchanceté des méchants prenne fin, que tu soutiennes le juste, Toi qui sondes les cœurs et les reins, Dieu juste ! 10 Mon bouclier est en Dieu ; Il sauve ceux dont le cœur est droit. 11 Dieu est un juste juge, Un Dieu qui s'irrite chaque jour... 12 Si le méchant ne revient pas en arrière, il aiguisera son épée ; Il a bandé son arc et l'ajuste ; 13 Il dirige sur lui des traits mortels, Ses flèches, qu'il rendra enflammées. 14 Voici, il est dans les douleurs pour néant ; Il a conçu la malice et il a enfanté le mensonge ; 15 Il a fait une fosse et l'a creusée, Et il tombe dans le creux qu'il a fait. 16 Son travail inique retombe sur sa tête, Et sur son front redescend sa violence. 17 Je louerai l'Eternel pour sa justice, Et je chanterai le nom de l'Eternel, le Très-Haut !
