1 De David. Lorsqu’il simula la folie devant Abimélek, que celui-ci le chassa et qu’il s’en alla. 2 Je bénirai le Seigneur en tout temps ; sa louange sera constamment dans ma bouche. 3 Je mets ma fierté dans le Seigneur ; les pauvres entendent, ils se réjouissent ! 4 Magnifiez le Seigneur avec moi, exaltons ensemble son nom ! 5 J’ai cherché le Seigneur, et il m’a répondu ; de toutes mes frayeurs il m’a délivré. 6 Ceux qui regardent vers lui sont radieux, et leur visage n’a pas à rougir. 7 Quand un pauvre crie, le Seigneur entend et il le sauve de toutes ses détresses. 8 Le messager du Seigneur dresse son camp autour de ceux qui le craignent, et il les délivre. 9 Goûtez, et voyez combien le Seigneur est bon ! Heureux l’homme qui trouve en lui un abri ! 10 Craignez le Seigneur, vous, ses saints ! Car rien ne manque à ceux qui le craignent. 11 Les jeunes lions peuvent souffrir de la misère et de la faim, mais ceux qui cherchent le Seigneur ne manqueront d’aucun bien. 12 Venez, mes fils, écoutez-moi ! Je vous apprendrai la crainte du Seigneur. 13 Quel est l’homme qui prend plaisir à la vie, qui aime les jours, pour voir le bonheur ? 14 Préserve ta langue du mal, tes lèvres des paroles trompeuses ; 15 écarte-toi de ce qui est mauvais, fais ce qui est bon ; recherche la paix, poursuis-la. 16 Les yeux du Seigneur sont sur les justes, et ses oreilles sont attentives à leurs appels au secours. 17 Le Seigneur se tourne contre ceux qui font du mal, pour retrancher de la terre leur souvenir. 18 Quand ils crient, le Seigneur entend, et il les délivre de toutes leurs détresses ; 19 le Seigneur est proche de ceux qui ont le cœur brisé, il sauve ceux dont l’esprit est écrasé. 20 Nombreux sont les malheurs pour le juste, mais de tous le Seigneur le délivre. 21 Il garde chacun de ses os, aucun d’eux ne sera brisé. 22 Le malheur fait mourir le méchant, et les ennemis du juste devront réparer leurs torts. 23 Le Seigneur libère ses serviteurs ; aucun de ceux qui trouvent en lui un abri ne sera en tort.
