Judges 10 (AS21)
1 Depois de Abimeleque, um homem de Issacar chamado Tolá, filho de Puá, filho de Dodô, levantou-se para libertar Israel. Ele morava em Samir, na região montanhosa de Efraim. 2 Ele foi juiz de Israel durante vinte e três anos; então, morreu e foi sepultado em Samir. 3 Depois dele, levantou-se Jair, de Gileade, que foi juiz de Israel durante vinte e dois anos. 4 Ele teve trinta filhos, que montavam trinta jumentos. E tinham trinta cidades, chamadas cidades de Jair até o dia de hoje, que estão localizadas na terra de Gileade. 5 Jair morreu e foi sepultado em Camom. 6 Então os israelitas voltaram a fazer o que era mau aos olhos do SENHOR. Cultuaram os baalins, Astarote, os deuses da Síria, de Sidom, de Moabe, dos amonitas e dos filisteus. Visto que abandonaram o SENHOR e já não o cultuavam, 7 a ira do SENHOR se acendeu contra Israel, e ele os entregou nas mãos dos filisteus e nas mãos dos amonitas, 8 os quais começaram a humilhá-los e a oprimi-los naquele mesmo ano. Durante dezoito anos oprimiram todos os israelitas do lado leste do Jordão, em Gileade, na terra dos amorreus. 9 E os amonitas atravessaram o Jordão para guerrear também contra Judá, Benjamim e contra a família de Efraim. E Israel foi dominado por grande angústia. 10 Então os israelitas clamaram ao SENHOR: Pecamos contra ti, pois abandonamos o nosso Deus e cultuamos os baalins. 11 Mas o SENHOR respondeu aos israelitas: Não fui eu quem os livrou dos egípcios, dos amorreus, dos amonitas e dos filisteus? 12 Quando os sidônios, os amalequitas e os maonitas vos oprimiram, e clamastes a mim, não vos livrei das mãos deles? 13 Mesmo assim vós me abandonastes e cultuastes outros deuses. Por isso não vos livrarei mais. 14 Ide e clamai aos deuses que escolhestes! Que eles vos livrem na hora da angústia! 15 Mas os israelitas disseram ao SENHOR: Nós pecamos. Faze tu conosco o que achares melhor, mas te suplicamos que nos livres hoje. 16 Então se desfizeram dos deuses estrangeiros que havia entre eles e voltaram a cultuar o SENHOR, que se moveu de compaixão por causa do sofrimento de Israel. 17 Depois disso, os amonitas se reuniram e acamparam em Gileade. Os israelitas também se reuniram e acamparam em Mispá. 18 Então os líderes do povo de Gileade disseram uns aos outros: O homem que começar a guerra contra os amonitas será o chefe de todos os habitantes de Gileade.
