1 Mwanangu, kama utayakubali maneno yanguna kuyaweka akiba maagizo yangu ndani mwako, 2 kutega sikio lako kwenye hekimana kuweka moyo wako katika ufahamu, 3 na kama ukiita busarana kuita kwa sauti ufahamu, 4 na kama utaitafuta kama fedhana kuitafuta sana kama hazina iliyofichwa, 5 ndipo utakapoelewa kumcha BWANAna kupata maarifa ya Mungu. 6 Kwa maana BWANA hutoa hekima,na kinywani mwake hutoka maarifa na ufahamu. 7 Anahifadhi ushindi kwa ajili ya mwadilifu,yeye ni ngao kwa wale wasio na lawama, 8 kwa kuwa hulinda mwenendo wa mwenye hakina kuhifadhi njia ya waaminifu wake. 9 Ndipo utafahamu lipi lililo kweli na hakina sawa: yaani kila njia nzuri. 10 Kwa maana hekima itaingia moyoni mwako,nayo maarifa yataifurahisha nafsi yako. 11 Busara itakuhifadhina ufahamu utakulinda. 12 Hekima itakuokoa kutoka njia za waovu,kutoka kwa watu ambao maneno yao yamepotoka, 13 wale waachao mapito yaliyonyookawakatembea katika njia za giza, 14 wale wapendao kutenda mabayana kufurahia upotovu wa ubaya, 15 ambao mapito yao yamepotokana ambao ni wapotovu katika njia zao. 16 Itakuokoa pia kutokana na mwanamke kahaba,kutokana na mke aliyepotoka mwenye manenoya kushawishi kutenda ubaya, 17 aliyemwacha mwenzi wa ujana wakena kupuuza agano alilofanya mbele ya Mungu. 18 Kwa maana nyumba yake huelekea kwenye kifona mapito yake kwenye roho za waliokufa. 19 Hakuna yeyote aendaye kwake akarudi,au kufikia mapito ya uzima. 20 Hivyo utatembea katika njia za watu wemana kushikamana na mapito ya wenye haki. 21 Kwa maana wanyofu wataishi katika nchi,nao wasio na lawama watabakia ndani yake. 22 Bali waovu watakatiliwa mbali kutoka nchi,nao wasio waaminifu watangʼolewa kutoka humo.
