Proverbs 2 (LBA)
1 Mon fils, si tu accueilles mes paroles, Si tu gardes soigneusement mes préceptes, 2 Prêtant l'oreille à la sagesse, Inclinant ton cœur à l'intelligence ; 3 Oui, si tu invoques le discernement, Si tu adresses tes appels à l'intelligence ; 4 Si tu la cherches comme de l'argent, Si tu la recherches comme des trésors cachés, 5 Alors tu comprendras la crainte de l'Eternel, Et tu trouveras la connaissance de Dieu. 6 Car l'Eternel donne la sagesse ; De sa bouche viennent la connaissance et l'intelligence. 7 Il réserve le salut aux hommes droits ; Il est un bouclier pour ceux qui marchent dans l'intégrité, 8 Protégeant les sentiers de la droiture, Veillant sur la voie de ses bien-aimés. 9 Alors tu discerneras la justice et la droiture Et la probité, toute voie qui mène au bien. 10 Car la sagesse entrera dans ton cœur, Et la connaissance sera agréable à ton âme. 11 La réflexion veillera sur toi, L'intelligence te gardera ; 12 Pour te préserver de la mauvaise voie, Des hommes aux paroles perverses, 13 Qui abandonnent les sentiers de la droiture Pour marcher dans les voies ténébreuses ; 14 Qui trouvent leur plaisir à faire le mal, Qui se réjouissent dans la perversité du méchant. 15 Dont les sentiers sont détournés Et les voies tortueuses ; 16 Pour te délivrer de la femme d'autrui, De l'étrangère aux paroles flatteuses, 17 Qui abandonne l'ami de sa jeunesse Et qui oublie l'alliance de son Dieu. 18 Car sa maison penche vers la mort, Et son sentier conduit chez les ombres. 19 Aucun de ceux qui vont à elle n'en reviendra Et ne retrouvera les sentiers de la vie ; 20 Pour que tu marches dans la voie des gens de bien Et que tu gardes les sentiers des justes ; 21 Car les hommes droits habiteront le pays, Et les justes y subsisteront. 22 Mais les méchants seront retranchés du pays, Et les perfides en seront arrachés.
