Zechariah 11 (BPH)
1 Luk portene op, Libanon, så ilden kan fortære dine cedertræer. 2 Græd, cypresser, for de majestætiske cedertræer er totalt ødelagte. Hør, hvor løverne brøler, for Jordandalens krat er afsvedet.” 4 Derefter sagde Herren min Gud til mig: „Gå hen og pas en flok får, der snart skal slagtes. 5 De, der køber fårene, er i deres fulde ret til at slagte dem. De, der ejer fårene, siger: ‚Gud ske lov, nu er vi rige!’ De har slet ingen medlidenhed med fårene. 6 På samme måde vil jeg ikke have medlidenhed med landets indbyggere, men lade dem falde i kløerne på deres egne onde ledere, som skal undertrykke dem og ødelægge landet. Og jeg vil ikke gribe ind og redde dem.” 7 Så tog jeg et job som hyrde for en flok får, der skulle sælges til opkøbere og slagtes. Jeg anskaffede mig to hyrdestave. Den ene kaldte jeg Barmhjertighed, den anden Sammenhold, og jeg vogtede fårene, som jeg havde fået besked på. 8 I løbet af en måned skaffede jeg tre onde hyrder af vejen. Men fårene brød sig ikke om mig, så jeg mistede tålmodigheden med dem. 9 Så sagde jeg: „Jeg vil ikke være hyrde for jer længere. Det kan godt være, I bliver dræbt af vilde dyr, men det er der ikke noget at gøre ved. Og de overlevende kan få lov at angribe hinanden.” 10 Derpå tog jeg den stav, jeg havde kaldt Barmhjertighed, og brækkede den midt over for at vise, at jeg ikke længere ville beskytte dem mod de fremmede nationer. 11 Så var det job forbi. Men fårenes ejere, som havde overværet dramaet, forstod godt, at det var et budskab fra Herren. 12 Da sagde jeg til dem: „Hvis I synes, så giv mig min løn. Hvis I ikke vil betale, så lad være!” Så betalte de mig 30 sølvstykker. 13 Da sagde Herren til mig: „Giv pottemageren den ‚enorme’ sum penge, de vurderede mig til!” Så tog jeg de 30 sølvstykker og kastede dem ind i tempelgården til pottemageren. 14 Dernæst brækkede jeg den anden stav, som jeg havde kaldt Sammenhold, for på den måde at vise, at sammenholdet mellem Juda og Israel var brudt. 15 Derefter sagde Herren til mig: „Gå igen hen og tag et job som hyrde, men opfør dig som en ondskabsfuld hyrde. 16 Det skal illustrere, hvordan jeg vil overlade mit folk til en hyrde, der ikke hjælper de får, som er i fare, ikke opsøger de vildfarne, ikke læger de tilskadekomne eller sørger for foder til de raske. Tværtimod slagter og spiser han de bedste af dyrene og splitter endda klovene ad. 17 Ve den uduelige hyrde, som ikke vogter min hjord ordentligt. Sværdet skal ramme hans arm, så armen bliver lammet, og det skal gennembore hans højre øje, så han mister synet.”
