2 Chronicles 16 (AS21)

1  No trigésimo sexto ano do reinado de Asa, Baasa, rei de Israel, atacou Judá e fortificou Ramá, para que ninguém pudesse sair nem entrar do território de Asa, rei de Judá. 2 Então Asa tirou a prata e o ouro dos tesouros do templo do SENHOR e do palácio real, e enviou mensageiros a Ben-Hadade, rei da Síria, que morava em Damasco, dizendo: 3 Façamos uma aliança entre nós, como houve entre meu pai e o teu. Eu te envio prata e ouro; vai e rompe a sua aliança com Baasa, rei de Israel, para que ele se retire de mim. 4 Ben-Hadade deu ouvidos ao rei Asa, e enviou os comandantes dos seus exércitos contra as cidades de Israel, os quais feriram Ijom, Dã, Abel-Maim e todas as cidades-celeiros de Naftali. 5 Quando Baasa soube disso, parou de fortificar Ramá e não continuou sua obra. 6 Então o rei Asa reuniu todo o Judá, e eles levaram as pedras e a madeira que Baasa tinha usado para construir Ramá; e Asa construiu Geba e Mispá com elas. 7 Naquele mesmo tempo o vidente Hanani veio falar com Asa, rei de Judá, e lhe disse: O exército do rei da Síria escapou da tua mão porque confiaste no rei da Síria e não confiaste no SENHOR, teu Deus. 8 Os etíopes e os líbios não tinham um grande exército, com muitíssimos carros e cavaleiros? Mas tu confiaste no SENHOR, e ele os entregou nas tuas mãos. 9 Porque os olhos do SENHOR passam por toda a terra, para que ele se mostre forte para com aqueles cujo coração é íntegro para com ele. Procedeste loucamente nisso, pois agora haverá guerras contra ti. 10 Indignado contra o vidente, Asa lançou-o na prisão, porque ficou enfurecido contra ele por causa disso; Asa também oprimiu alguns do povo nessa mesma época. 11 Os atos de Asa, desde os primeiros até os últimos, estão escritos no livro dos reis de Judá e de Israel. 12 No trigésimo nono ano do seu reinado, Asa foi acometido de uma enfermidade nos pés. A enfermidade dele era muito grave, mas não buscou o SENHOR nem mesmo na enfermidade, e sim aos médicos. 13 Asa descansou com seus pais, morrendo no ano quarenta e um do seu reinado. 14 Ele foi sepultado no túmulo que tinha cavado para si na Cidade de Davi. Deitaram-no numa cama cheia de perfumes e de diversas especiarias preparadas segundo a arte dos perfumistas; e fizeram-lhe uma grande fogueira dessas coisas.
