1 Depois de vinte anos, nos quais Salomão tinha edificado o templo do SENHOR e o seu próprio palácio, 2 Salomão construiu as cidades que Hirão tinha lhe dado e estabeleceu nelas os israelitas. 3 Depois Salomão foi a Hamate-Zobá e a conquistou. 4 Ele construiu Tadmor no deserto, e todas as cidades-celeiros que construiu em Hamate. 5 Também construiu Bete-Horom, tanto a alta como a baixa; cidades fortes, com muros, portas e ferrolhos; 6 e também Baalate, e todas as cidades-celeiros que Salomão tinha, e todas as cidades para os seus carros e as cidades para os seus cavaleiros, e tudo quanto Salomão desejava construir em Jerusalém, no Líbano e em toda a terra do seu domínio. 7 Quanto a todos os remanescentes, descendentes dos heteus, dos amorreus, dos perizeus, dos heveus e dos jebuseus, os que não pertenciam a Israel, 8 que ficaram depois deles na terra, os quais os israelitas não destruíram, Salomão lhes impôs trabalho forçado até o dia de hoje. 9 Mas Salomão não fez nenhum israelita escravo para a sua obra. Estes eram homens de guerra, chefes dos seus capitães, e chefes dos seus carros e dos seus cavaleiros. 10 Estes eram os chefes dos oficiais do rei Salomão, duzentos e cinquenta, que presidiam sobre o seu povo. 11 Salomão levou a filha do faraó da Cidade de Davi para o palácio que havia construído para ela, pois disse: Minha mulher não morará no palácio de Davi, rei de Israel, porque os lugares nos quais a arca do SENHOR entrou são santos. 12 Então Salomão ofereceu sacrifícios ao SENHOR, sobre o altar do SENHOR que havia construído diante do pórtico; 13 e isso de acordo com o mandamento de Moisés para as ofertas diárias, dos sábados e das luas novas, e das três festas anuais, a saber: a festa dos pães sem fermento, a festa das semanas e a festa dos tabernáculos. 14 Também, conforme a ordem de seu pai Davi, designou os turnos dos sacerdotes para os seus cargos, e os levitas para os seus cargos, para louvarem a Deus e ministrarem diante dos sacerdotes, como exigia o dever de cada dia, e ainda os porteiros, de acordo com seus turnos em cada porta; pois assim havia ordenado Davi, o homem de Deus. 15 Os sacerdotes e os levitas não se desviaram em nada do que o rei lhes ordenara, especialmente no tocante aos tesouros. 16 Assim se executou toda a obra de Salomão, desde o dia em que se lançaram os fundamentos do templo do SENHOR até terminar. Assim se completou o templo do SENHOR. 17 Então Salomão foi a Eziom-Geber e a Elate, à beira do mar, na terra de Edom. 18 Hirão enviou-lhe navios e marinheiros, por meio de seus servos; e eles foram a Ofir com os servos de Salomão, e tomaram de lá quatrocentos e cinquenta talentos de ouro e os trouxeram ao rei Salomão.
