Joshua 14 (AS21)
1 Estas são as heranças que os israelitas receberam na terra de Canaã, as quais Eleazar, o sacerdote, e Josué, filho de Num, e os cabeças das casas paternas das tribos dos israelitas lhes repartiram. 2 A partilha da herança entre as nove tribos e meia foi feita por sorte, como o SENHOR ordenara por meio de Moisés. 3 Pois às duas tribos e meia Moisés já tinha dado herança além do Jordão, mas aos levitas não tinha dado herança entre eles. 4 Os filhos de José formaram duas tribos: Manassés e Efraim. Mas aos levitas não foi dada porção na terra, apenas cidades em que habitassem e com os seus arredores para o gado e os bens deles. 5 Os israelitas fizeram como o SENHOR ordenara a Moises: eles repartiram a terra. 6 Então os filhos de Judá chegaram a Josué em Gilgal; e Calebe, filho de Jefoné, o quenezeu, disse-lhe: Tu sabes o que o SENHOR falou a Moisés, homem de Deus, em Cades-Barneia, a respeito de mim e de ti. 7 Eu tinha quarenta anos quando Moisés, servo do SENHOR, me enviou de Cades-Barneia para espionar a terra, e eu lhe trouxe um relatório totalmente sincero. 8 Meus irmãos que subiram comigo fizeram derreter o coração do povo de medo, mas eu perseverei em seguir o SENHOR, meu Deus. 9 Naquele dia Moisés jurou, dizendo: Certamente a terra em que o teu pé pisou te será herança para ti e para teus filhos para sempre, porque perseveraste em seguir o SENHOR, meu Deus. 10 E agora, como prometeu, o SENHOR conservou-me em vida estes quarenta e cinco anos, e isso desde o tempo em que o SENHOR falou esta palavra a Moisés, quando Israel ainda andava no deserto; e hoje já tenho oitenta e cinco anos. 11 Ainda hoje estou tão forte como no dia em que Moisés me enviou; a minha força então era como é agora, tanto para guerrear como para trabalhar. 12 Dá-me agora este monte de que o SENHOR falou naquele dia; porque tu ouviste, naquele dia, que lá estavam os anaqueus, bem como cidades grandes e fortificadas. Como o SENHOR está comigo, eu os expulsarei, como ele prometeu. 13 Então Josué abençoou Calebe, filho de Jefoné, e deu-lhe Hebrom como herança. 14 Assim Hebrom ficou sendo herança de Calebe, filho de Jefoné, o quenezeu, até o dia de hoje, porquanto perseverara em seguir o SENHOR, Deus de Israel. 15 O nome de Hebrom era anteriormente Quiriate-Arba, porque Arba era o maior homem entre os anaqueus. E a terra descansou da guerra.
