1 Vous tous qui avez soif,venez chercher de l’eau !Et même vous |qui n’avez pas d’argent,venez, achetez et mangez !Venez acheter sans argent, |oui, sans paiement,du vin, du lait ! 2 Pourquoi dépensez-vous |votre argent pour payerce qui ne nourrit pas ?Pourquoi travaillez-vouspour une nourriture |qui ne rassasie pas ?Ecoutez, oui, écoutez-moi,alors vous mangerez |ce qui est bon,vous vous délecterez |d’aliments savoureux. 3 Tendez l’oreille, |venez à moi,écoutez-moi |et vous vivrez.Car je conclurai avec vous |une alliance éternelle,j’accomplirai pour vous |avec fidélité |les œuvres bienveillantes |que j’ai promises à David. 4 Voici, j’ai fait de lui |un témoin pour les peuples,un chef pour commander aux peuples. 5 Oui, tu appelleras |une nation que tu ne connais pas ;une nation qui ne te connaît pas |va accourir vers toi ;c’est à cause de moi, |moi, l’Eternel ton Dieu,moi, le Saint d’Israël,qui te couvre de gloire. 6 Tournez-vous donc vers l’Eternel,tant qu’on peut le trouver.Adressez-vous à luitant qu’il est proche ! 7 Que le coupable |abandonne sa voie,et l’homme malfaisant |ses mauvaises pensées !Et qu’il revienne à l’Eternelqui aura compassion de lui,à notre Dieuqui lui accordera |un pardon généreux. 8 Car vos pensées |ne sont pas mes pensées,et vos voies ne sont pas les voies |que j’ai prescrites,déclare l’Eternel ; 9 autant le ciel est élevé |au-dessus de la terre,autant les voies que je vous ai prescrites |sont élevées au-dessus de vos voies,et autant mes pensées |sont élevées loin au-dessus des vôtres. 10 Or, la pluie et la neige |qui descendent du cieln’y retournent jamaissans avoir arrosé |et fécondé la terre,sans avoir fait germer |les graines qui s’y trouvent,sans fournir au semeur |le grain qu’il doit semer,et sans donner du pain |à tous ceux qui le mangent. 11 Il en sera de même |de la parole que j’ai prononcée :elle ne reviendra |jamais vers moi à vide,sans avoir accompli |ce que je désiraiset sans avoir atteint le butque je lui ai fixé. 12 Car vous sortirez pleins de joie,vous serez conduits dans la paix.Montagnes et collineséclateront en cris de joie |devant vos pas.Tous les arbres des champs |applaudiront. 13 Où croissent les broussailles |poussera le cyprès,et au lieu des orties |croîtra le myrte.Ce sera un titre de gloire |pour l’Eternelet un signe perpétuelqui ne disparaîtra jamais.
