Hebrews 5 (BLPT)
1 Todo grande sacerdote é escolhido entre o povo para trabalhar pelo povo nas questões relacionadas a Deus. Ele apresenta a Deus tanto as ofertas quanto os sacrifícios pelos pecados de todos. 2 O grande sacerdote compreende como as pessoas se sentem ignorantes e equivocadas, pois ele também sente o mesmo tipo de fraquezas humanas. 3 Assim, ele oferece sacrifícios por seus próprios pecados e, também, pelos pecados dos outros. 4 Ninguém pode se denominar como grande sacerdote; deve ser escolhido por Deus, exatamente como aconteceu com Arão. 5 Da mesma maneira, Cristo não tomou para si mesmo a honra de se tornar grande sacerdote. Foi Deus quem lhe disse: “Você é o meu Filho. Hoje, eu me tornei o seu Pai.” 6 Em outra passagem das Sagradas Escrituras, Deus diz: “Você será sacerdote para sempre, seguindo a ordem de Melquisedeque.” 7 Jesus, enquanto estava entre nós em sua forma humana, orou e pediu entre gritos e lágrimas que Deus o salvasse da morte, pois ele era o único capaz de fazer isso. Jesus foi ouvido porque respeitava a Deus. 8 Embora Jesus fosse Filho de Deus, ele aprendeu, por meio do seu sofrimento, o que realmente significa a obediência. 9 Quando a sua experiência aqui chegou ao fim, ele se tornou a fonte da salvação eterna para todos os que lhe obedecem. 10 E Deus o designou como grande sacerdote, de acordo com a ordem do sacerdócio de Melquisedeque. 11 Nós temos muito o que dizer sobre Jesus, mas parece difícil explicar, porque vocês não parecem ser capazes de entender. 12 Vocês tiveram tempo o bastante para se tornarem mestres, mas ainda precisam de que alguém lhes ensine os princípios básicos da palavra de Deus. É como se vocês precisassem voltar a ser bebês e a tomar leite, em vez de comerem alimentos sólidos. 13 Aqueles que se alimentam de leite não passam de criancinhas, que não têm experiência para viver de modo justo. 14 Alimentos sólidos são para adultos, para aqueles que, pela prática, aprenderam a saber a diferença entre o bem e o mal.
