1 Nu gik Bildad igen i rette med Job: 2 „Hold nu op med al din snak, Job!Kom til fornuft, så vi kan tale sammen. 3 Hvad regner du os egentlig for?En flok dumme, umælende får? 4 Du opnår intet ved at pine og plage dig selv.Verden går videre, uanset hvad du gør. 5 Synd fører nu engang til straf,og de ondes livslys slukkes. 6 Mørket indhyller deres bolig,og de får et ulykkelig endeligt. 7 Deres faste skridt bliver usikre,de snubler over deres egne ben. 8 Deres fødder fører dem til fald,de er ude på gyngende grund. 9 De går lige i fælden og sidder fast i saksen,får en løkke om foden og kan ikke komme fri. 10 En skjult snor er spændt ud over vejen,et reb ligger parat som en løkke. 11 Rædselen kommer imod dem fra alle sider,angsten er lige i hælene på dem. 12 Deres livskraft udtæres,undergangen ligger på lur efter dem, 13 sygdom æder dem langsomt op,døden har lagt sin klamme hånd på dem. 14 De trækkes ud af deres trygge boligog føres frem til den frygtelige død. 15 Ild og svovl regner ned over dem,deres ejendom bliver omdannet til aske. 16 De er som et træ med udtørrede rødder,hvor alle grenene er ved at visne. 17 Ingen mindes dem, når de er borte,deres navne går hurtigt i glemmebogen. 18 De udslettes fra jordens overflade,skubbes fra lyset ind i mørket. 19 De efterlader sig ingen arvinger,deres slægt uddør med dem. 20 Alle, som hører om deres ulykke,gribes af gru og forfærdelse. 21 Ja, sådan går det onde mennesker,dem, der ikke har ærefrygt for Gud.”
