Proverbs 20 (ELBE)
1 Der Wein ist ein Spötter, starkes Getränk ein Lärmer; und jeder, der davon taumelt, wird nicht weise. 2 Der Schrecken des Königs ist wie das Knurren eines jungen Löwen; wer ihn gegen sich aufbringt, verwirkt sein Leben. 3 Ehre ist es dem Mann, vom Streit abzustehen; wer aber ein Narr ist, stürzt sich hinein. 4 Wegen des Winters mag der Faule nicht pflügen; zur Erntezeit wird er begehren, und nichts ist da. 5 Tiefes Wasser ist der Ratschluss im Herzen des Mannes, aber ein verständiger Mann schöpft ihn heraus. 6 Die meisten Menschen rufen jeder seine Güte aus; aber einen zuverlässigen Mann, wer wird ihn finden? 7 Wer in seiner Vollkommenheit gerecht wandelt, glückselig sind seine Kinder nach ihm! 8 Ein König, der auf dem Thron des Gerichts sitzt, zerstreut alles Böse mit seinen Augen. 9 Wer darf sagen: Ich habe mein Herz gereinigt, ich bin rein geworden von meiner Sünde? 10 Zweierlei Gewichtssteine, zweierlei Epha, sie alle beide sind dem HERRN ein Gräuel. 11 Selbst ein Knabe gibt sich durch seine Handlungen zu erkennen, ob sein Tun lauter, und ob es aufrichtig ist. 12 Das hörende Ohr und das sehende Auge, der HERR hat sie alle beide gemacht. 13 Liebe nicht den Schlaf, damit du nicht verarmst; öffne deine Augen, so wirst du satt Brot haben. 14 Schlecht, schlecht!, spricht der Käufer; und wenn er weggeht, dann rühmt er sich. 15 Es gibt Gold und Korallen die Menge; aber ein kostbares Gerät sind Lippen der Erkenntnis. 16 Nimm ihm das Kleid, denn er ist für einen anderen Bürge geworden; und wegen der Fremden pfände ihn. 17 Das Brot der Falschheit ist einem Mann süß, aber danach wird sein Mund voll Kies. 18 Pläne kommen durch Beratung zustande, und mit weiser Überlegung führe Krieg. 19 Wer als Verleumder umhergeht, enthüllt das Geheimnis; und mit dem, der seine Lippen aufsperrt, lass dich nicht ein. 20 Wer seinem Vater oder seiner Mutter flucht, dessen Leuchte wird erlöschen in tiefster Finsternis. 21 Ein Erbe, das im Anfang hastig erlangt wird, dessen Ende wird nicht gesegnet sein. 22 Sprich nicht: Ich will Böses vergelten. Harre auf den HERRN, so wird er dich retten. 23 Zweierlei Gewichtssteine sind dem HERRN ein Gräuel, und trügerische Waagschalen sind nicht gut. 24 Die Schritte des Mannes hängen von dem HERRN ab; und der Mensch, wie sollte er seinen Weg verstehen? 25 Ein Fallstrick des Menschen ist es, vorschnell zu sprechen: Geheiligt!, und nach den Gelübden zu überlegen. 26 Ein weiser König zerstreut die Gottlosen und führt das Dreschrad über sie hin. 27 Der Geist des Menschen ist eine Leuchte des HERRN, durchforschend alle Kammern des Leibes. 28 Güte und Wahrheit behüten den König, und durch Güte stützt er seinen Thron. 29 Der Schmuck der Jünglinge ist ihre Kraft, und graues Haar die Zierde der Alten. 30 Wundstriemen scheuern das Böse weg, und Schläge scheuern die Kammern des Leibes.
