2 Chronicles 15 (LBA)

1 Et Azaria, fils d'Oded, l'Esprit de Dieu étant sur lui, 2 sortit, au-devant d'Asa et lui dit : Ecoutez-moi, Asa et tout Juda et Benjamin ! L'Eternel est avec vous quand vous êtes avec lui ; et si vous le cherchez, il se laissera trouver par vous ; mais si vous l'abandonnez, il vous abandonnera. 3 Pendant longtemps Israël a été sans vrai Dieu, sans sacrificateur qui l'enseignât et sans loi ; 4 mais il s'est converti dans sa détresse à l'Eternel, le Dieu d'Israël, et ils l'ont recherché, et il s'est laissé trouver par eux. 5 Et dans ces temps-là il n'y avait point de sécurité pour allants et venants, car il y avait beaucoup de sujets de trouble pour tous les habitants des pays ; 6 et ils se heurtaient peuple contre peuple et ville contre ville, car Dieu les effrayait par toutes sortes d'angoisses. 7 Mais vous, fortifiez-vous, et que vos mains ne soient point lâches, car il y a un salaire pour votre œuvre. 8 Et aussitôt qu'Asa eut entendu ces paroles et la prophétie d'Oded, le prophète, il se fortifia et fit disparaître les abominations de tout le pays de Juda et de Benjamin et des villes qu'il avait prises dans la montagne d'Ephraïm ; et il rétablit l'autel de l'Eternel qui était devant le portique de l'Eternel. 9 Et il rassembla tout Juda et Benjamin, et ceux d'Ephraïm, de Manassé et de Siméon, qui habitaient parmi eux : car un grand nombre de ceux d'Israël avaient passé à lui, en voyant que l'Eternel son Dieu était avec lui. 10 Et ils s'assemblèrent à Jérusalem, le troisième mois de la quinzième année du règne d'Asa ; 11 et ils sacrifièrent à l'Eternel en ce jour-là, sur le butin qu'ils avaient amené, sept cents bœufs et sept mille brebis. 12 Et ils s'engagèrent solennellement à chercher l'Eternel, le Dieu de leurs pères, de tout leur cœur et de toute leur âme ; 13 et quiconque ne chercherait pas l'Eternel, le Dieu d'Israël, devait être mis à mort, petit ou grand, homme ou femme. 14 Et ils prêtèrent serment à l'Eternel à voix haute et avec des cris de joie, et au son des trompettes et des cors. 15 Et tout Juda se réjouit de ce serment, car ils l'avaient prêté de tout leur cœur et ils avaient cherché l'Eternel de leur plein gré, et il s'était laissé trouver par eux. Et l'Eternel leur donna du repos de tous côtés. 16 Et même le roi destitua Maaca, mère d'Asa, de son rang, parce qu'elle avait dressé une statue à Astarté ; et Asa abattit sa statue, la broya et la brûla dans la vallée du Cédron. 17 Mais les hauts-lieux ne furent pas ôtés d'Israël. Cependant le cœur d'Asa fut intègre toute sa vie ; 18 et il fit porter dans la maison de Dieu les choses consacrées par son père et par lui-même, de l'argent, de l'or et des vases. 19 Et il n'y eut point de guerre jusqu'à la trente-cinquième année du règne d'Asa.
