Isaiah 52 (NBS)
1 Eveille-toi, éveille-toi ! Revêts-toi de ta force, Sion ! Revêts tes habits de splendeur, Jérusalem, ville sacrée ! Car il n’entrera plus chez toi ni incirconcis, ni impur. 2 Secoue ta poussière, relève-toi, assieds-toi, Jérusalem ! Détache les liens de ton cou, Sion la belle, toi qui es captive ! 3 Car ainsi parle le Seigneur : c’est pour rien que vous avez été vendus, et ce n’est pas à prix d’argent que vous serez rédimés. 4 Car ainsi parle le Seigneur Dieu : D’abord mon peuple descendit en Egypte pour y séjourner en immigré. Puis l’Assyrien l’opprima pour rien. 5 Et maintenant, qu’ai-je à faire – déclaration du Seigneur – quand mon peuple, pour rien, a été pris ? Ceux qui le dominent hurlent – déclaration du Seigneur – et constamment mon nom est bafoué. 6 C’est pourquoi mon peuple connaîtra mon nom ; c’est pourquoi il saura, en ce jour-là, que c’est moi qui parle : je suis là ! 7 Qu’ils sont beaux, sur les montagnes, les pas de celui qui porte la bonne nouvelle, qui proclame la paix, de celui qui porte l’heureuse nouvelle, qui proclame le salut, qui dit à Sion : Ton Dieu est roi ! 8 C’est la voix de tes guetteurs : ils élèvent la voix, tous ensemble ils poussent des cris de joie ; car c’est face à face qu’ils voient le Seigneur revenir à Sion. 9 Eclatez en cris de joie, toutes ensemble, ruines de Jérusalem ! Car le Seigneur console son peuple, il assure la rédemption de Jérusalem. 10 Le Seigneur a mis à nu son bras saint sous les yeux de toutes les nations ; et toutes les extrémités de la terre verront le salut de notre Dieu. 11 Partez, partez, sortez de là ! Ne touchez rien d’impur ! Sortez du milieu d’elle ! Purifiez-vous, vous qui portez les ustensiles du Seigneur ! 12 Ne sortez pas dans la précipitation, ne partez pas en fuyant ; car le Seigneur marche devant vous, et le Dieu d’Israël sera ton arrière-garde. 13 Mon serviteur prospérera ; il s’élèvera, il montera, il sera très haut placé. 14 De même qu’une multitude est atterrée à cause de toi, – tant son aspect, défiguré, n’était plus celui d’un homme, son apparence n’était plus celle des êtres humains 15 – de même il purifiera par l’aspersion une multitude de nations. Devant lui des rois fermeront la bouche ; car ils verront ce qui ne leur avait pas été raconté, ils comprendront ce qu’ils n’avaient pas entendu.
