1 Por isso, é necessário atentarmos mais ainda para as coisas que ouvimos, para que nunca nos desviemos delas. 2 Pois se a palavra falada por meio de anjos permaneceu firme, e toda transgressão e desobediência receberam justa punição, 3 como escaparemos se desconsiderarmos tão grande salvação? Essa salvação, tendo sido anunciada inicialmente pelo Senhor, foi depois confirmada a nós pelos que a ouviram. 4 E juntamente com eles, por meio de sinais, Deus testemunhou feitos extraordinários, diversos milagres e dons do Espírito Santo, distribuídos segundo a sua vontade. 5 Porque não foi aos anjos que Deus sujeitou o mundo vindouro, de que falamos. 6 Mas em certo lugar alguém testemunhou, dizendo:Que é o homem para que te lembres dele? Ou o filho do homem para que te interesses por ele? 7 Tu o fizeste um pouco menor que os anjos e o coroaste de glória e honra, 8 todas as coisas lhe sujeitaste debaixo dos pés. E ao sujeitar-lhe todas as coisas, nada deixou que não lhe fosse sujeito.Contudo, agora ainda não vemos todas as coisas sujeitas a ele; 9 vemos, porém, Jesus, que foi feito um pouco menor que os anjos, coroado de glória e honra por causa do sofrimento da morte, para que, pela graça de Deus, sofresse a morte em favor de todos. 10 Porque era preciso que aquele para quem são todas as coisas e por meio de quem tudo existe, ao trazer muitos filhos à glória, aperfeiçoasse por meio do sofrimento o autor da salvação deles. 11 Pois todos vêm de um só, tanto o que santifica como os santificados. Por essa razão ele não se envergonha de chamá-los de irmãos, 12 dizendo:Anunciarei teu nome a meus irmãos, cantarei louvores a ti no meio da congregação. 13 E outra vez:Porei nele a minha confiança.E ainda:Aqui estou, e os filhos que Deus me deu. 14 Portanto, visto que os filhos compartilham de carne e sangue, ele também participou das mesmas coisas, para que pela morte destruísse aquele que tem o poder da morte, isto é, o Diabo; 15 e livrasse todos os que estavam sujeitos à escravidão durante toda a vida, por medo da morte. 16 Pois, na verdade, ele não auxilia os anjos, mas sim a descendência de Abraão. 17 Por essa razão era necessário que em tudo se tornasse semelhante a seus irmãos, para que viesse a ser um sumo sacerdote misericordioso e fiel nas coisas que dizem respeito a Deus, a fim de fazer propiciação pelos pecados do povo. 18 Porque naquilo que ele mesmo sofreu, ao ser tentado, pode socorrer os que estão sendo tentados.
