1 Timothy 3 (BOCNT)

1 Dobro se kaže: želi li tko biti starješina, časnu službu želi. 2 Jer starješina Crkve mora biti besprijekoran. Mora biti vjeran svojoj ženi, trijezan, razborit, skroman, gostoljubiv i dobar učitelj. 3 Ne smije biti pijanac ni svadljivac, nego popustljiv i ljubazan, ne kao oni koji vole novac. 4 Mora dobro upravljati svojom obitelji, a djeca ga moraju slušati i poštivati. 5 Jer ako čovjek ne može upravljati vlastitom obitelji, kako će se brinuti za Crkvu Božju? 6 Starješina ne smije biti novoobraćenik da se ne bi uzoholio te pao pod đavlovu osudu. 7 I ljudi koji nisu iz Crkve moraju o njemu dobro govoriti da ne zapadne u đavolsku zamku i ne osramoti se. 8 Đakoni također moraju biti časni ljudi, a ne licemjeri. Ne smiju biti skloni prekomjernom piću ni prljavom dobitku. 9 Moraju biti čiste savjesti, odani sljedbenici Krista, koji je uzvišena tajna njihove vjere. 10 Najprije ih valja iskušati pa neka tek onda, budu li besprijekorni, obavljaju đakonsku službu. 11 Njihove žene također moraju biti časne, razborite i u svemu pouzdane, a ne sklone ogovaranju. 12 Đakon mora biti vjeran svojoj ženi te dobro upravljati svojom djecom i kućanstvom. 13 Jer koji dobro obavljaju đakonsku službu, stječu častan položaj i veliku sigurnost u svojoj vjeri u Isusa Krista. 14 Pišem ti ovo u vjeri da ću uskoro doći k tebi, 15 da znaš, ako se moj dolazak odgodi, kako se ljudi trebaju ponašati u Božjoj kući, u Crkvi živoga Boga, koja je stup i uporište istine. 16 Ovo je, nesumnjivo, uzvišena tajna naše vjere:Krist se očitovao u tijelu,opravdao ga je Duh,vidjeli su ga anđelii naviješten je svim narodima.U svijetu su u njega vjerovalii uznesen je na nebo.
