1 Herre, jeg søger ly hos dig,for du svigter mig aldrig. 2 Kom og red mig,for du er altid trofast.Bøj dig og lyt til min bøn,grib ind og red mig. 3 Vær du min fæstning, mit tilflugtssted,hvor mine fjender ikke kan nå mig.Ja, du er min klippeborg og min fæstning. 4 Min Gud, red mig fra de onde mennesker,fra de frygtelige voldsmænds kløer. 5 Herre, jeg sætter min lid til dig,fra barndommen af har jeg stolet på dig. 6 Jeg har været i din varetægt, siden jeg blev født,jeg har altid kunnet støtte mig til dig.Jeg takker dig hver eneste dag. 7 Mit liv vidner om din trofasthed,jeg har altid kunnet regne med din hjælp. 8 Jeg priser og ærer dig dagen lang,fortæller om din storhed til alle og enhver. 9 Svigt mig ikke, nu hvor jeg er gammel,for jeg er svag og har brug for din hjælp. 10 Mine fjender lægger planer imod mig,de lurer på at slå mig ihjel. 11 „Gud har forladt ham,” siger de.„Vi overfalder ham nu, hvor han er alene.” 12 Åh, Gud, bliv ikke stående i det fjerne.Skynd dig at komme og hjælpe mig. 13 Slå ned på mine anklagere,så de alle bliver gjort til skamme.Gå imod dem, der vil gøre mig fortræd,så de selv bliver hånet og spottet. 14 Jeg sætter altid min lid til digog priser dig igen og igen. 15 Jeg har ikke tal på de gange,hvor du trofast har reddet mig.Jeg vil fortælle alle menneskerom din store godhed og nåde. 16 Jeg vil fortælle om din vældige magt, Herre,forkynde om dine retfærdige handlinger. 17 Du har vist mig din storhed, lige fra jeg var barn,og jeg fortæller stadig om dine underfulde gerninger. 18 Nu, hvor jeg er gammel og grå,må du ikke svigte mig, Gud.Giv mig lov at fortælle om dine undereogså til den kommende generation. 19 Din godhed når til skyerne, Gud,du har gjort vidunderlige ting.Hvor findes en Gud som dig? 20 Du har tilladt, at jeg lider nu, Gud,men jeg er sikker på, at du vil hjælpe mig igen.Træk mig tilbage fra gravens rand. 21 Kom og red mig endnu en gang,så jeg bliver æret som før. 22 Jeg vil takke dig med harpespil,lovprise din trofasthed, Gud.Jeg vil spille på min lyre og lovsynge dig,for du er Israels hellige Gud. 23 Jeg vil råbe af fryd og synge din pris.Jeg vil takke dig, når du sætter mig fri. 24 Dagen lang vil jeg fortælle om din godhed.Alle mine fjender bliver ydmyget og gjort til skamme.
