1 Aproximem-se, ó nações,para ouvir,e vocês, povos, escutem!Que a terra e a sua plenitudeouçam;que o mundo e tudoo que ele produz escutem. 2 Porque a indignação do SENHORestá contra todas as nações,e o seu furor está contratodo o exército delas;ele as destinou para a destruiçãoe as entregou à matança. 3 Os mortos delesserão lançados fora,e dos seus cadáveressubirá o mau cheiro;os montes se inundarãodo sangue deles. 4 Todo o exército dos céusse dissolverá,e os céus se enrolarãocomo um pergaminho;todo o exército dos céus cairá,como cai a folha da videirae a folha da figueira. 5 Porque a minha espadase embriagou nos céus;eis que, para exercer juízo,ela desce sobre Edome sobre o povo que destineipara a destruição. 6 A espada do SENHORestá cheia de sangue,engrossada da gordurae do sangue de cordeirose de bodes,da gordura dos rins de carneiros.Porque o SENHOR faráum sacrifício em Bozrae grande matançana terra de Edom. 7 Os bois selvagenscairão com eles,e os novilhos, com os touros.A terra deles ficará embriagadade sangue,e o pó ficará encharcadode gordura. 8 Porque esse seráo dia da vingança do SENHOR,o ano de retribuiçõespela causa de Sião. 9 Os ribeiros de Edomse transformarão em piche,e o seu pó, em enxofre;a sua terra se tornaráem piche ardente. 10 O fogo não se apagaránem de noite nem de dia,e a sua fumaça subirápara sempre.De geração em geraçãoficará abandonada,e para todo o sempreninguém passará por ela. 11 O pelicano e o ouriçotomarão posse do lugar;a coruja e o corvohabitarão nessa terra.O SENHOR estenderá sobre Edomo cordel de destruiçãoe o prumo de ruína. 12 Já não haverá nobrespara proclamarem um rei;os seus príncipes já não existem. 13 Nos seus palácios,crescerão espinhos,e as urtigas e os cardostomarão contadas suas fortalezas.Edom será uma habitaçãode chacaise morada de avestruzes. 14 Os animais do desertose encontrarão com as hienas,e os bodes selvagensclamarão uns aos outros;animais noturnos ali pousarãoe acharão para si lugar de repouso. 15 Ali a coruja fará o seu ninho,porá os seus ovos e os chocará;e na sua sombra abrigaráos seus filhotes.Também ali os abutresse ajuntarão,cada um com o seu par. 16 Procurem no livro do SENHORe leiam:Nenhuma dessas criaturas faltará,e nenhuma estará sem o seu par.Porque a boca do SENHORo ordenou,e o seu Espírito mesmo as ajuntará. 17 Porque ele lançou as sortesa favor delas,e a sua mão lhes repartiu a terracom o cordel;para sempre a possuirão,através das geraçõeshabitarão nela.
