Isaiah 17 (PDDPT)
1 Profecía que vino como una carga sobre Damasco: Ciertamente Damasco dejará de ser ciudad y será un montón de ruinas. 2 Las ciudades de Aroer están abandonadas. Serán para que se echen los rebaños sin que alguien los espante. 3 La fortaleza de Efraín, la soberanía de Damasco y el resto de Siria dejará de existir. Serán como el resplandor de los hijos de Israel, dice YAVÉ de las huestes. 4 En aquel tiempo menguará el resplandor de Jacob y enflaquecerá la gordura de su carne. 5 Será como cuando el que cosecha recoge el trigo y su brazo recoge las espigas, como el que recoge espigas de grano en el valle de Rafaím. 6 Y quedarán en él rebuscos, como cuando sacuden el olivo. Dos o tres olivas en la punta de la rama, cuatro o cinco en sus ramas más productivas, dice YAVÉ, el ʼElohim de Israel. 7 Aquel día el hombre mirará a su Hacedor. Sus ojos contemplarán al Santo de Israel. 8 No mirará los altares que sus propias manos construyeron, ni mirará lo que hicieron sus dedos, ni los símbolos de Asera, ni las imágenes del sol. 9 Aquel día sus plazas fuertes serán como ruinas abandonadas ante los hijos de Israel y quedarán desoladas. 10 Porque olvidaste al ʼELOHIM de tu salvación y no te acordaste de la Roca de tu refugio. Por tanto, aunque siembres plantas hermosas, e injertes vides importadas, 11 el día cuando las plantes, logres que germinen y que florezcan de mañana, no obstante la cosecha se malogrará el día funesto de dolor incurable. 12 ¡Ay! ¡Multitud de muchos pueblos rugen como el mar! ¡Murmullo de naciones resuena como el de aguas impetuosas! 13 Las naciones rugirán como el rugido de muchas aguas, pero Él las reprenderá y huirán lejos. Serán como cáscara de grano trillado arrebatada por el viento en la montaña y como remolino de polvo ante una tormenta. 14 Ciertamente al llegar la noche, ahí está el terror repentino, pero antes del amanecer ya no existen. Tal es el destino de los que nos despojan, lo que corresponde a los que nos saquean.
