Jeremiah 21 (AS21)
1 Esta é a palavra que veio a Jeremias da parte do SENHOR, quando o rei Zedequias lhe enviou Pasur, filho de Malquias, e o sacerdote Sofonias, filho de Maaseias, dizendo: 2 Consulta agora o SENHOR por nós porque Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, está nos atacando; talvez o SENHOR realize em nosso meio uma de suas maravilhas, e o rei se retire de nós. 3 Então Jeremias lhes respondeu: Assim direis a Zedequias: 4 Assim diz o SENHOR, o Deus de Israel: Eu voltarei contra vós as armas de guerra, que estão nas vossas mãos, com as quais lutais contra o rei da Babilônia e contra os babilônios, que vos sitiam ao redor dos muros, e os reunirei dentro desta cidade. 5 E eu mesmo lutarei contra vós com mão estendida, e com braço forte, com ira, furor e grande indignação. 6 E ferirei os habitantes desta cidade, tanto os homens como os animais; morrerão de uma praga devastadora. 7 E depois disso, diz o SENHOR, entregarei Zedequias, rei de Judá, e seus servos, e o povo, e os que desta cidade sobreviverem à peste, à espada e à fome, nas mãos de Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, na mão de seus inimigos e na mão dos que procuram tirar-lhes a vida. Ele os matará ao fio da espada; não os poupará, nem terá compaixão ou misericórdia. 8 E dirás a este povo: Assim diz o SENHOR: Eu ponho diante de vós o caminho da vida e o caminho da morte. 9 Quem permanecer nesta cidade morrerá pela espada, pela fome ou pela peste; mas quem sair e se render aos babilônios que vos cercam, viverá e terá a sua própria vida por despojo. 10 Porque determinei fazer o mal contra esta cidade e não o bem, diz o SENHOR. Ela será entregue nas mãos do rei da Babilônia, e ele a incendiará. 11 E dirás à casa do rei de Judá: Ouvi a palavra do SENHOR: 12 Ó casa de Davi, assim diz o SENHOR: Executai justiça pela manhã e livrai o oprimido da mão do opressor, para que o meu furor não saia como fogo e se acenda, sem que ninguém o apague, por causa da maldade de vossas ações. 13 Eu estou contra ti, que estás entronizada sobre o vale, no planalto rochoso, diz o SENHOR; contra vós, que dizeis: Quem virá contra nós? Quem entrará nas nossas moradas? 14 E eu vos castigarei segundo o fruto das vossas ações, diz o SENHOR; e no seu bosque acenderei fogo que consumirá tudo o que estiver ao seu redor.
