1 Eu realmente não preciso escrever a vocês sobre essa oferta para o povo de Deus. 2 Eu sei o quanto vocês estão interessados em ajudar. Eu mostrei para os irmãos da Macedônia como eu estava orgulhoso por vocês, na Acaia, já estarem preparados há mais de um ano. E foi o entusiasmo de vocês que encorajou muitos deles a doarem também. 3 Mas, estou enviando esses irmãos, para que o orgulho que demonstro por vocês não prove estar errado e para que vocês estejam preparados, exatamente como eu disse que estariam. 4 Isso é apenas para o caso de alguns macedônios irem comigo, para que eles não os encontrem despreparados. Nós, sem mencionar vocês, ficaríamos muito envergonhados se esse projeto falhasse. 5 É por isso que eu decidi pedir a esses irmãos para visitá-los com antecedência, a fim de terminarem o plano para a coleta dessa oferta. Então, tudo ficará pronto como um presente e, não, como algo que tivesse sido exigido. 6 Eu quero que se lembrem disto: se você plantar pouco colherá pouco; mas, se você plantar muito colherá muito. 7 Cada um deveria dar o que já decidiu dar. Mas, que não faça isso com tristeza ou por obrigação, pois o amor de Deus para aqueles que dão com o espírito alegre é muito grande. 8 Deus é capaz de, bondosamente, lhes dar tudo, para que vocês tenham sempre o que precisam e, tendo ainda mais do que o necessário, possam ajudar os outros também. 9 Como está escrito nas Sagradas Escrituras: “Ele dá generosamente aos pobres, e a sua generosidade é eterna.” 10 Deus, que fornece a semente para aquele que semeia e que dá o pão como alimento, também dará a sua “semente” e fará com que ela se multiplique, aumentando, assim, a sua colheita de generosidade. 11 Deus os enriquecerá de todas as formas, para que possam sempre ser muito generosos. E a sua generosidade fará com que outros sejam gratos a Deus. 12 Quando vocês servem dessa maneira, não apenas as necessidades do povo de Deus são satisfeitas, mas, também, muitas orações de agradecimento são feitas a Deus. 13 Ao dar essa oferta, vocês mostram a sua verdadeira natureza, e as pessoas que a recebem agradecerão a Deus pela obediência de vocês aos ensinamentos. Pois assim, vocês demonstram o seu comprometimento com o evangelho de Cristo e a sua generosidade ao ajudar tanto a eles quanto a todos os outros também. 14 Eles irão orar por vocês com muito carinho, pois a graça de Deus transborda por meio de vocês. 15 Agradeçamos a Deus por esse dom, que é muito maior do que qualquer palavra possa expressar!
