1 关于为圣徒提供帮助之事，我本不想提及。 2 我知道你们热切地希望提供帮助。我曾向马其顿人称赞你们，说：“亚该亚人去年已经预备好了。”他们中很多人都受到你们热心的激励。 3 我派了那几位兄弟造访，就是为了证明你们的确值得我的称赞，让你们可以按照我所说的准备妥当。 4 这是为了防止如果马其顿人和我一同去你们那里，你们却没有准备好。如果这项任务失败了，我们会感到非常难堪，更不用说你们了！ 5 所以我才决定让几位兄弟提前造访你们，让你们提前筹足之前所答应的捐款。这样你们的帮助就是真正的馈赠，而非勉强而为之。 6 我还想提醒你们这一点：种得少就收获少，种得多就收获的多。 7 每个人都要按照自己已经决定的方式捐赠，不要为难，不必勉强，因为诚心捐赠之人才会获得上帝的爱。 8 上帝恩典你们一切，让你们始终富足，所以也就有足够的能力帮助别人。 9 正如经文所说：“他慷慨救济穷人，他的慷慨之情永不消逝。” 10 上帝为撒种者提供种子，为人类提供食物。他必将为你们加倍提供种子，让你们的慷慨之情收获更多。 11 你们将万事富足，这样就可以始终慷慨给予，你们的慷慨将让其他人感谢上帝。 12 当你用这种方式提供服务，不仅满足了上帝使徒的需求，也让许多人感谢上帝。 13 你们的慷慨彰显了你们的真实天性，这份慷慨惠及的众人，将因你们的顺从感谢上帝。因为这体现了你们对基督福音的承诺，彰显出你们为他们和其他人的慷慨之心。 14 他们会用无尽的爱为你们祈祷，因为上帝通过你们传递他的厚恩。 15 感谢上帝的恩赐，这远非言语所能形容。
