Proverbs 17 (ELBE)
1 Besser ein trockener Bissen und Frieden dabei, als ein Haus voll Opferfleisch mit Zank. 2 Ein einsichtiger Knecht wird über den schändlichen Sohn herrschen, und inmitten der Brüder die Erbschaft teilen. 3 Der Schmelztiegel für das Silber und der Ofen für das Gold, aber Prüfer der Herzen ist der HERR. 4 Ein Übeltäter horcht auf die Lippe des Unheils, ein Lügner gibt der Zunge des Verderbens Gehör. 5 Wer des Armen spottet, verhöhnt den, der ihn gemacht hat; wer sich über Unglück freut, wird nicht für schuldlos gehalten werden. 6 Enkel sind die Krone der Alten, und der Kinder Schmuck sind ihre Väter. 7 Vortreffliche Rede schickt sich nicht für einen gemeinen Menschen; wieviel weniger Lügenrede für einen Edlen! 8 Das Geschenk ist ein Edelstein in den Augen des Empfängers; wohin er sich wendet, gelingt es ihm. 9 Wer Liebe sucht, deckt die Übertretung zu; wer aber eine Sache immer wieder anregt, entzweit Vertraute. 10 Ein Verweis dringt bei einem Verständigen tiefer ein als 100 Schläge bei einem Toren. 11 Der Böse sucht nur Empörung, aber ein grausamer Bote wird gegen ihn gesandt werden. 12 Eine Bärin, die der Jungen beraubt ist, begegne einem Mann, aber nicht ein Tor in seiner Narrheit! 13 Wer Böses für Gutes vergilt, von dessen Haus wird das Böse nicht weichen. 14 Der Anfang eines Zankes ist wie wenn einer Wasser entfesselt; so lass den Streit, ehe er heftig wird. 15 Wer den Gottlosen rechtfertigt, und wer den Gerechten verdammt, sie alle beide sind dem HERRN ein Gräuel. 16 Wozu doch Geld in der Hand eines Toren, um Weisheit zu kaufen, da ihm doch der Verstand fehlt? 17 Der Freund liebt zu aller Zeit, und als Bruder für die Drangsal wird er geboren. 18 Ein unverständiger Mensch ist, wer in die Hand einschlägt, wer Bürgschaft leistet gegenüber seinem Nächsten. 19 Wer Zank liebt, liebt Übertretung; wer seine Tür hoch macht, sucht Einsturz. 20 Wer verkehrten Herzens ist, wird das Gute nicht finden; und wer sich mit seiner Zunge windet, wird ins Unglück fallen. 21 Wer einen Toren zeugt, dem wird es zum Kummer, und der Vater eines Narren hat keine Freude. 22 Ein fröhliches Herz bringt gute Besserung, aber ein zerschlagener Geist vertrocknet das Gebein. 23 Der Gottlose nimmt ein Geschenk aus dem Gewandbausch, um die Pfade des Rechts zu beugen. 24 Vor dem Angesicht des Verständigen ist Weisheit, aber die Augen des Toren sind am Ende der Erde. 25 Ein törichter Sohn ist ein Kummer für seinen Vater und Bitterkeit für die, die ihn geboren hat. 26 Es ist auch nicht gut, den Gerechten zu bestrafen, oder Edle um der Geradheit willen zu schlagen. 27 Wer seine Worte zurückhält, besitzt Erkenntnis; und wer kühlen Geistes ist, ist ein verständiger Mann. 28 Auch ein Narr, der schweigt, wird für weise gehalten, für verständig, wer seine Lippen verschließt.
