Proverbs 5 (MNG)
1 Mein Sohn, merke auf meine Weisheit und leihe meiner Einsicht dein Ohr, 2 um Besonnenheit zu beobachten und damit deine Lippen Erkenntnis bewahren. 3 Denn von Honigseim triefen die Lippen der fremden Frau (vgl. 2,16), und glätter als Öl ist ihr Gaumen (= Mund); 4 aber zuletzt ist sie bitter wie Wermut, scharf wie ein zweischneidiges Schwert. 5 Ihre Füße steigen zum Tode hinab, ihre Schritte sind geradeswegs zur Unterwelt (oder: auf das Totenreich) gerichtet. 6 Damit du nicht den Weg des Lebens einschlägst, sind ihre Bahnen unstet, ohne daß du es merkst. 7 Nun denn, mein Sohn, höre auf mich und weiche nicht ab von den Worten meines Mundes! 8 Halte deinen Weg fern von ihr und nahe dich nicht der Tür ihres Hauses, 9 damit du nicht anderen deine Ehre (oder: Jugendblüte? Vermögen?) hingeben mußt und (den Ertrag) deiner Jahre einem unerbittlichen (Rächer); 10 damit nicht Fremde sich an deinem Vermögen sättigen und dein mühsam Erworbenes nicht in das Haus eines andern kommt, 11 und du nicht schließlich seufzen mußt, wenn dir Leib und Fleisch dahingeschwunden ist, 12 und du klagen mußt: »Ach, warum habe ich die Zucht gehaßt, und warum hat mein Herz die Warnung mißachtet! 13 Warum habe ich nicht auf die Stimme meiner Lehrer gehört und meinen Erziehern kein Gehör geschenkt! 14 Beinahe wäre ich ganz ins Verderben geraten inmitten der Gerichtsversammlung und in der Gemeinde!« 15 Trinke Wasser nur aus deiner eigenen Zisterne (= Brunnen) und Quellwasser aus deinem eigenen Born! 16 Sollen deine Quellen sich auf die Straße ergießen, deine Wasserbäche auf die freien Plätze? 17 Nein, dir allein sollen sie angehören und keinem Fremden neben dir. 18 Dein Brunnquell möge gesegnet sein, daß du am Weibe deiner Jugend dich erfreust! 19 Das liebreizende Reh, die anmutige Gazelle – ihr Busen möge dich allezeit ergötzen, in ihrer Liebe sei immerdar trunken! 20 Denn warum wolltest du, mein Sohn, an einer Fremden dich ergötzen und den Busen einer anderen umarmen? – 21 Denn vor den Augen des HERRN liegen die Wege eines jeden offen da, und auf alle seine Pfade gibt er acht. 22 Die eigenen Verschuldungen fangen ihn, den Gottlosen, und durch die Bande seiner Sünde wird er festgehalten. 23 Sterben wird ein solcher infolge des Mangels an Zucht und ob seiner großen Torheit zum Sturz hintaumeln.
