1 Agora ajunte-se em tropas,ó filha de tropas,porque fomos sitiados,e ferirão com uma varaa face do juiz de Israel. 2 “E você, Belém-Efrata,que é pequena demais para figurarcomo grupo de milhares de Judá,de você me sairá aqueleque há de reinar em Israel,e cujas origens sãodesde os tempos antigos,desde os dias da eternidade.” 3 Portanto, o SENHOR os entregaráaté o tempo em quea que está em dorestiver dado à luz;então o restante de seus irmãosvoltará aos filhos de Israel. 4 Ele se manterá firmee apascentará o povona força do SENHOR,na majestade do nome do SENHOR,seu Deus;e eles habitarão seguros,porque, agora,ele será engrandecidoaté os confins da terra. 5 E ele será a nossa paz. Quando a Assíria vier à nossa terrae quando entrarem nossas fortalezas,levantaremos contra elasete pastorese oito chefes do povo. 6 Estes dominarão a terra da Assíriacom a espada,e a terra de Ninrode,dentro de suas próprias portas.Assim, nos livrará da Assíria,quando esta vier à nossa terrae invadir as nossas fronteiras. 7 O remanescente de Jacó estaráno meio de muitos povoscomo orvalho do SENHOR,como chuvisco sobre a relva,que não espera pelo homem,nem dependedos filhos de homens. 8 O remanescente de Jacóestará entre as nações,no meio de muitos povos,como um leão entreos animais da floresta,como um leãozinhoentre os rebanhos de ovelhas,o qual, se passar,ataca e despedaça a presa,sem que ninguém a possa livrar. 9 A sua mão se exaltarásobre os seus adversários,e todos os seus inimigosserão eliminados. 10 “Naquele dia”,diz o SENHOR,“eliminarei do meio de vocêsos cavalose destruirei os carros de guerra; 11 destruirei as cidades da sua terrae derrubarei todas as fortalezasde vocês; 12 arrancarei as feitiçariasdas suas mãos,e vocês não mais terão adivinhos; 13 do meio de vocês eliminareias imagens de esculturae as colunas,e vocês não mais se inclinarãodiante do que fizeramcom as suas próprias mãos; 14 eliminarei do meio de vocêsos postes da deusa Aseráe destruirei as cidades de vocês. 15 Com ira e furor,eu me vingarei das naçõesque não me obedeceram.”
