1 Du chef de chœur. Psaume. De David. 2 Seigneur, c’est en toi que je trouve un abri. Que jamais je n’aie honte ! Par ta justice, donne-moi d’échapper ! 3 Tends vers moi ton oreille, délivre-moi vite ! Sois pour moi un rocher fortifié, une place forte, pour que je sois sauvé ! 4 Car tu es mon roc, ma forteresse ; à cause de ton nom tu me conduiras, tu me dirigeras. 5 Tu me feras sortir du filet qu’on a tendu pour moi ; car tu es ma forteresse. 6 Je te confie mon souffle ; tu m’as libéré, Seigneur, Dieu de loyauté ! 7 Je déteste ceux qui s’attachent à des futilités illusoires ; moi, j’ai mis ma confiance dans le Seigneur. 8 Mon allégresse, ma joie, je les trouve en ta fidélité ; car tu vois mon affliction, tu connais mes détresses, 9 et tu ne m’as pas livré à l’ennemi ; tu m’installes au large. 10 Fais-moi grâce, Seigneur, car je suis dans la détresse ; j’ai les yeux, la gorge et le ventre rongés par la contrariété. 11 Ma vie s’épuise dans le chagrin, mes années dans les soupirs ; ma force vacille à cause de ma faute, mes os sont rongés. 12 A cause de tous mes adversaires, je suis le déshonneur suprême de mes voisins, la frayeur de ceux qui me connaissent ; ceux qui me voient dehors s’enfuient loin de moi. 13 Je suis oublié des cœurs, comme un mort, je suis comme un objet perdu. 14 J’ai entendu les mauvais propos de beaucoup, – effroi de tous côtés ! – quand ils se liguent ensemble contre moi : ils intriguent pour m’ôter la vie. 15 Moi, j’ai mis ma confiance en toi, Seigneur ! J’ai dit : Tu es mon Dieu ! 16 Mes temps sont dans ta main ; délivre-moi de la main de mes ennemis et de mes persécuteurs ! 17 Fais briller ta face sur moi, ton serviteur, sauve-moi par ta fidélité ! 18 Seigneur, que je n’aie pas honte quand je t’invoque ! Que les méchants aient honte, qu’ils descendent en silence au séjour des morts ! 19 Qu’elles deviennent muettes, les lèvres menteuses, qui parlent avec insolence contre le juste, avec orgueil et mépris ! 20 Oh ! combien est grande ta bonté, que tu tiens en réserve pour ceux qui te craignent, que tu exerces envers ceux qui trouvent en toi un abri, en face des humains ! 21 Tu les caches au secret de ta face, loin des intrigues des hommes, dans une hutte tu les préserves des langues qui les accusent. 22 Béni soit le Seigneur ! Car il a montré envers moi une fidélité étonnante dans la ville forte. 23 Et moi, je disais, dans ma précipitation : Je suis chassé loin de tes yeux ! Mais tu as entendu mes supplications, quand je t’ai appelé au secours. 24 Aimez le Seigneur, vous tous, ses fidèles ! Le Seigneur garde les hommes sûrs, mais il paie de retour celui qui agit avec orgueil. 25 Soyez forts, que votre cœur soit courageux, vous tous qui attendez le Seigneur !
