1 Eu te exorto diante de Deus e de Cristo Jesus, que há de julgar os vivos e os mortos, pela sua vinda e pelo seu reino, 2 prega a palavra, insiste a tempo e fora de tempo, aconselha, repreende e exorta com toda paciência e ensino. 3 Porque chegará o tempo em que não suportarão a sã doutrina; mas, desejando muito ouvir coisas agradáveis, ajuntarão para si mestres segundo seus próprios desejos; 4 e não só desviarão os ouvidos da verdade, mas se voltarão para as fábulas. 5 Tu, porém, sê equilibrado em tudo, sofre as aflições, faze a obra de um evangelista e cumpre teu ministério. 6 Quanto a mim, já estou sendo derramado como oferta de libação, e o tempo da minha partida está próximo. 7 Combati o bom combate, terminei a carreira, guardei a fé. 8 Desde agora a coroa da justiça me está reservada, a qual o Senhor, justo juiz, me dará naquele dia, e não somente a mim, mas a todos os que amarem a sua vinda. 9 Procura visitar-me em breve, 10 pois Demas, por amar este mundo, abandonou-me. Ele partiu para Tessalônica; Crescente foi para a Galácia; Tito, para a Dalmácia; 11 só Lucas está comigo. Toma a Marcos e traze-o contigo, pois ele me é muito útil para o ministério. 12 Mandei Tíquico para Éfeso. 13 Quando vieres, traze-me a capa que deixei em Trôade, na casa de Carpo, e os livros, principalmente os pergaminhos. 14 Alexandre, que trabalha com bronze, prejudicou-me bastante; o Senhor lhe retribuirá segundo as suas ações. 15 Tenhas muito cuidado com ele, pois resistiu muito às nossas palavras. 16 Na minha primeira defesa ninguém me ajudou; pelo contrário, todos me desampararam. Que isto não lhes seja cobrado. 17 Mas o Senhor esteve ao meu lado e me fortaleceu, para que por meu intermédio a pregação fosse anunciada e todos os gentios a ouvissem; e fui livrado da boca do leão. 18 O Senhor me livrará de toda obra má e me levará a salvo para o seu reino celestial. A ele seja a glória para todo o sempre. Amém. 19 Cumprimenta Prisca e Áquila, bem como a casa de Onesíforo. 20 Erasto ficou em Corinto. Deixei Trófimo doente em Mileto. 21 Apressa-te e vem antes do inverno. Êubulo, Pudente, Lino, Cláudia e todos os irmãos te cumprimentam. 22 O Senhor seja com o teu espírito. A graça seja convosco.
