Isaiah 47 (AS21)
1 Ó virgem, filha da Babilônia, desce e assenta-te no pó, assenta-te no chão, sem trono, ó filha dos babilônios, porque nunca mais serás chamada mimosa nem delicada. 2 Pega o moedor e mói a farinha; tira o véu, levanta a cauda do vestido, descobre as pernas e atravessa os rios. 3 A tua nudez será descoberta, e a tua vergonha, exposta; eu me vingarei e não pouparei ninguém. 4 Quanto ao nosso Redentor, o seu nome é SENHOR dos Exércitos; é o Santo de Israel. 5 Assenta-te calada e entra nas trevas, ó filha dos babilônios; porque não serás mais chamada a senhora de reinos. 6 Fiquei indignado com o meu povo e profanei a minha herança. Eu os entreguei na tua mão, mas não tiveste misericórdia deles e colocaste um jugo muito pesado até sobre os idosos. 7 E disseste: Serei senhora para sempre; e até agora não levaste a sério essas coisas, nem te lembraste do fim delas. 8 Agora ouve, tu que te entregas aos prazeres, que vives tranquila e dizes no coração: Eu sou, e fora de mim não há outra; não ficarei viúva, nem passarei pela perda de filhos. 9 Mas essas duas coisas virão de repente sobre ti, no mesmo dia: Perda de filhos e viuvez; virão com toda a força sobre ti, apesar das tuas muitas feitiçarias e dos teus inúmeros encantamentos. 10 Porque confiaste na tua maldade e disseste: Ninguém me vê; as coisas que te perverteram foram a tua sabedoria e o teu conhecimento. Disseste no coração: Eu sou, e além de mim não há outra. 11 Porque o mal virá sobre ti, e não saberás livrar-te dele com teus encantamentos; sobre ti cairá tamanha destruição que não poderás evitar; sobre ti virá de repente destruição imprevisível. 12 Continua com os teus encantamentos e com as tuas muitas feitiçarias, nas quais tens te afadigado desde a juventude; talvez possas tirar proveito, ou inspirar terror. 13 Tu te cansaste dos muitos conselhos recebidos. Levantem-se agora e te salvem os astrólogos que contemplam os astros e os que predizem nas luas novas o que virá sobre ti. 14 Eles são como restolho, e o fogo os queimará; não poderão livrar-se do poder das chamas, pois não são um braseiro para eles se aquecerem, nem fogo para se sentarem em volta. 15 Assim serão para contigo aqueles com quem te afadigaste, os que fizeram negócios contigo desde a juventude; andarão vagueando, cada um pelo seu caminho; não haverá quem te salve.
