Jeremiah 39 (AS21)
1 No nono ano de Zedequias, rei de Judá, no décimo mês, Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, e todo o seu exército vieram contra Jerusalém e a cercaram. 2 No nono dia do quarto mês do décimo primeiro ano de Zedequias, abriram uma brecha no muro da cidade. 3 E todos os príncipes do rei da Babilônia foram e se sentaram na porta do Meio. Eram eles Nergal-Sarezer de Sangar, Nebo-Sarsequim, chefe de oficiais, Nergal-Sarezer, alto oficial, e com eles todos os outros príncipes do rei da Babilônia. 4 Quando Zedequias, rei de Judá, e todos os guerreiros os viram, fugiram da cidade de noite, pelo caminho do jardim do rei, pela porta entre os dois muros; e seguiram pelo caminho da Arabá. 5 Mas o exército dos babilônios os perseguiu; e alcançaram Zedequias nas campinas de Jericó. Então o prenderam e o levaram a Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, que estava em Ribla, na terra de Hamate; e o rei o sentenciou. 6 E o rei da Babilônia matou os filhos de Zedequias diante dele em Ribla. O rei da Babilônia também matou todos os nobres de Judá. 7 Cegou os olhos de Zedequias e o prendeu com correntes de bronze, para levá-lo para a Babilônia. 8 Os babilônios incendiaram o palácio real e as casas do povo, e derrubaram os muros de Jerusalém. 9 Então, Nebuzaradã, capitão da guarda, levou para a Babilônia o povo que havia restado na cidade: os desertores que já haviam se entregado a ele e outros que haviam ficado. 10 Mas Nebuzaradã, capitão da guarda, deixou ficar na terra de Judá somente alguns pobres dentre o povo, que nada possuíam. E deu-lhes vinhas e campos. 11 Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, havia ordenado acerca de Jeremias a Nebuzaradã, capitão da guarda, dizendo: 12 Leva-o e cuida bem dele, e não lhe causes mal algum; mas atende-o no que te pedir. 13 Então Nebuzaradã, capitão da guarda, Nebusazbã, Rabe-Sáris, Nergal-Sarezer, Rabe-Mague e todos os príncipes do rei de Babilônia 14 mandaram retirar Jeremias do pátio da guarda e o entregaram a Gedalias, filho de Aicam, filho de Safã, para que o levasse para casa; assim ele permaneceu entre o povo. 15 A palavra do SENHOR viera a Jeremias, estando ele ainda preso no pátio da guarda: 16 Vai e fala a Ebede-Meleque, o etíope: Assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos, Deus de Israel: Estou para cumprir as minhas palavras sobre esta cidade, com catástrofe e não com prosperidade. Naquele dia elas se cumprirão diante de ti. 17 Mas eu te livrarei naquele dia, diz o SENHOR, e não serás entregue nas mãos dos homens a quem temes. 18 Pois certamente te salvarei, e não cairás pela espada, mas terás a tua vida como despojo, porquanto confiaste em mim, diz o SENHOR.
