1 Finalmente, irmãos e irmãs, por favor, orem por nós, para que a mensagem do Senhor possa se espalhar e ser verdadeiramente valorizada da mesma maneira que vocês a valorizam 2 e que sejamos mantidos a salvo de homens perversos e maus, pois nem todos creem em Deus. 3 Mas, o Senhor é fiel e os fortalecerá e também os protegerá do maligno. 4 Nós temos muita confiança no Senhor, de que vocês estejam fazendo e continuarão a fazer o que nós lhes dissemos. 5 Que o Senhor os leve a entender profundamente o amor que Deus tem por vocês e a perseverança que Cristo dá. 6 Agora, queremos lhes dizer, irmãos e irmãs, em nome do nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo, que não se relacionem com qualquer irmão que viva sem trabalhar, que não segue os ensinamentos que aprendeu conosco. 7 Vocês certamente sabem que devem seguir o nosso exemplo, pois, enquanto estivemos com vocês, não fomos preguiçosos; 8 nunca comemos nada pelo qual não tenhamos pago. Pelo contrário, trabalhamos duro, dia e noite, para não sermos uma carga para qualquer um de vocês. 9 Na verdade, temos o direito de ser sustentados, mas queríamos ser um exemplo para vocês, a fim de que nos imitassem. 10 Mesmo enquanto estávamos com vocês, demos instruções rígidas de que qualquer um que não quisesse trabalhar também não deveria comer. 11 Mas agora, ouvimos dizer que há entre vocês alguns intrometidos preguiçosos, que não trabalham. 12 Em nome do Senhor Jesus, ordenamos que essas pessoas vivam de um modo correto e trabalhem para pagar por sua própria comida. 13 Irmãos e irmãs, não desistam de fazer o bem. 14 Observem bem quem não faz o que lhes dizemos nessa carta e certifiquem-se de não se relacionar com ele, para que fique envergonhado. 15 Não o tratem como inimigo, mas alerte-o como fariam com um irmão ou com uma irmã. 16 Que o próprio Senhor da paz lhes dê paz sempre e de todas as maneiras. Que o Senhor esteja com todos vocês. 17 Eu, Paulo, escrevo a saudação final com a minha própria mão.
