1 Und es geschah danach, da schlug David die Philister und demütigte sie; und er nahm Gat und seine Tochterstädte aus der Hand der Philister. 2 Und er schlug die Moabiter; und die Moabiter wurden David zu Knechten, die Geschenke brachten. 3 Und David schlug Hadadeser, den König von Zoba, bei Hamat, als er hinzog, um seine Macht am Strom Phrat zu befestigen. 4 Und David nahm von ihm gefangen 1.000 Wagen und 7.000 Reiter und 20.000 Mann Fußvolk; und David lähmte alle Gespanne und ließ 100 Gespanne von ihm übrig. 5 Und die Syrer von Damaskus kamen, um Hadadeser, dem König von Zoba, zu helfen; und David erschlug unter den Syrern 22.000 Mann. 6 Und David legte Besatzungen in das damascenische Syrien; und die Syrer wurden David zu Knechten, die Geschenke brachten. Und der HERR half David überall, wohin er zog. 7 Und David nahm die goldenen Schilde, die den Knechten Hadadesers gehörten, und brachte sie nach Jerusalem. 8 Und aus Tibchat und aus Kun, den Städten Hadadesers, nahm David Kupfer in großer Menge; davon machte Salomo das kupferne Meer und die Säulen und die kupfernen Geräte. 9 Und als Tou, der König von Hamat, hörte, dass David die ganze Heeresmacht Hadadesers, des Königs von Zoba, geschlagen hatte, 10 da sandte er Hadoram, seinen Sohn, zu dem König David, um ihn nach seinem Wohlergehen zu fragen und ihn zu beglückwünschen, weil er gegen Hadadeser gekämpft und ihn geschlagen hatte; denn Hadadeser war stets im Krieg mit Tou; und er sandte allerlei Geräte aus Gold und aus Silber und aus Kupfer. 11 Auch diese heiligte der König David dem HERRN, samt dem Silber und dem Gold, das er von all den Nationen genommen hatte: von den Edomitern und von den Moabitern und von den Kindern Ammon und von den Philistern und von den Amalekitern. 12 Und Abisai, der Sohn der Zeruja, schlug die Edomiter im Salztal, 18.000 Mann. 13 Und er legte Besatzungen in Edom, und alle Edomiter wurden David zu Knechten. Und der HERR half David überall, wohin er zog. 14 Und David regierte über ganz Israel; und er übte Recht und Gerechtigkeit an seinem ganzen Volk. 15 Und Joab, der Sohn der Zeruja, war über das Heer; und Josaphat, der Sohn Ahiluds, war Geschichtsschreiber; 16 und Zadok, der Sohn Ahitubs, und Ahimelech, der Sohn Abjathars, waren Priester; und Schawscha war Schreiber; 17 und Benaja, der Sohn Jojadas, war über die Keretiter und die Peletiter; und die Söhne Davids waren die ersten zur Seite des Königs.
