1 Au maître chantre. Sur Meurs pour le fils. Psaume de David. Je veux louer l'Eternel de tout mon cœur. Je raconterai toutes tes merveilles, 2 Je me réjouirai et m'égaierai en toi, Je chanterai ton nom, ô Très-Haut ! 3 Car mes ennemis reculent, Ils trébuchent et périssent devant ta face. 4 Car tu as pris en mains mon droit et ma cause, Tu t'es assis sur ton trône en juste juge. 5 Tu as tancé les nations, tu as fait périr le méchant, Tu as effacé leur nom à toujours et à perpétuité. 6 C'en est fait de mes ennemis ! Ruines éternelles ! Tu as extirpé leurs villes ; leur souvenir a péri avec eux. 7 Mais l'Eternel !... il siégera à toujours. Il a dressé son trône pour le jugement, 8 Il jugera le monde avec justice ; Il rendra la sentence des peuples avec droiture. 9 Et l'Eternel sera une haute retraite pour l'opprimé, Une haute retraite dans les temps de détresse. 10 Ceux qui connaissent ton nom se confieront en toi, Car tu n'abandonnes pas ceux qui te cherchent, ô Eternel ! 11 Chantez à l'Eternel, qui habite en Sion ; Publiez parmi les peuples ses hauts faits ; 12 Car le vengeur du sang versé s'est souvenu d'eux, Il n'oublie pas le cri des affligés. 13 Fais-moi grâce, Eternel ; vois le misérable état où m'ont réduit ceux qui me haïssent, Toi, qui me fais remonter des portes de la mort, 14 Afin que je publie toutes tes louanges dans les portes de la fille de Sion, Et que je me réjouisse de ton salut. 15 Les nations se sont enfoncées dans la fosse qu'elles avaient faite ; Ce filet qu'elles avaient caché, leur pied s'y prend. 16 L'Eternel s'est fait connaître, il a fait justice, En enlaçant le méchant dans l'œuvre de ses mains. (Harpes ; jeu d'instruments.) 17 Les méchants s'en retourneront dans le séjour des morts, Toutes les nations oublieuses de Dieu ; 18 Car ce n'est pas pour toujours qu'est oublié le pauvre, L'espoir des affligés ne périra pas à toujours. 19 Lève-toi, Eternel, que le mortel ne soit pas le plus fort ! Que les nations soient jugées devant ta face ! 20 Jette, ô Eternel, l'épouvante sur elles ; Qu'elles reconnaissent qu'elles ne sont que des hommes ! (Jeu d'instruments.)
