1 ʼADONAY YAVÉ me mostró: Mira ahí una cesta con frutas de verano. 2 Y dijo: ¿Qué ves, Amós?Y respondí: Una cesta con frutas de verano. Entonces YAVÉ me dijo: Mi pueblo Israel está maduro. No lo toleraré más. 3 Aquel día, dice ʼAdonay YAVÉ, los carruajes del palacio se convertirán en aullidos. Muchos serán los cadáveres que en silencio serán echados en cualquier lugar. 4 Oigan esto ustedes, los que pisotean al necesitado y destruyen a los pobres de la tierra, 5 mientras dicen: ¿Cuándo pasará la luna nueva para que vendamos grano, o el sábado, para que ofrezcamos trigo, para reducir el peso y aumentar el precio, para engañar con balanza falsa, 6 para comprar a los pobres por dinero y a los necesitados por un par de sandalias? 7 Por causa del orgullo de Jacob, YAVÉ juró: ¡No olvidaré jamás todas sus obras! 8 ¿No temblará la tierra por esto, y harán luto todos sus habitantes? Subirá toda como un río, crecerá y mermará como el Nilo de Egipto. 9 En aquel día, dice ʼAdonay YAVÉ, ocultaré el sol al mediodía, oscureceré la tierra en pleno día, 10 convertiré sus fiestas en duelo y todos sus cánticos en lamentos. Impulsaré a que toda cintura se cubra de tela áspera, y que toda cabeza se rape. Les impondré un duelo como por el unigénito, y su fin será un amargo día. 11 Ciertamente vienen días, dice ʼAdonay YAVÉ, cuando enviaré hambre a la tierra, no hambre de pan, ni sed de agua, sino de oír las Palabras de YAVÉ. 12 Irán errantes de mar a mar, y vagarán en busca de la Palabra de YAVÉ desde el norte hasta el oriente, pero no la hallarán. 13 Aquel día las hermosas doncellas y los jóvenes desmayarán de sed. 14 Los que juran por el pecado de Samaria: ¡Por tu ʼElohim, oh Dan! Y: ¡Por el camino a Beerseba caerán, y nunca más se levantarán!
