Jeremiah 19 (AS21)

1  Assim disse o SENHOR: Vai e compra uma jarra de oleiro e leva contigo alguns anciãos do povo e alguns anciãos dos sacerdotes; 2 sai ao vale de Ben-Hinom, que está à entrada da porta dos Cacos, e anuncia ali as palavras que eu te disser. 3 Assim dirás: Ouvi a palavra do SENHOR, ó reis de Judá e moradores de Jerusalém. Assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos, o Deus de Israel: Trarei sobre este lugar uma calamidade tal, que fará retinir os ouvidos de quem ouvir sobre ela. 4 Pois me abandonaram e profanaram este lugar, queimando nele incenso a outros deuses, que nunca conheceram, nem eles nem seus pais, nem os reis de Judá; e encheram este lugar com sangue de inocentes. 5 E nas colinas edificaram altares a Baal, para queimarem seus filhos no fogo como holocaustos a Baal, algo que nunca lhes ordenei, nem falei, nem me passou pela cabeça. 6 Por isso, diz o SENHOR, virão dias em que este lugar não se chamará mais Tofete, nem vale de Ben-Hinom, mas vale da Matança. 7 Neste lugar, esvaziarei os planos de Judá e de Jerusalém, e os farei cair pela espada diante de seus inimigos e pela mão dos que procuram tirar-lhes a vida. Darei os seus cadáveres por alimento às aves do céu e aos animais da terra. 8 E farei desta cidade uma desolação e um motivo de zombaria; todo aquele que passar por ela se espantará e dela zombará, por causa de todas as suas feridas. 9 E lhes farei comer a carne de seus filhos, e a carne de suas filhas, e comerá cada um a carne do seu próximo, por causa do cerco e da angústia provocada pelos seus inimigos, os que procuram tirar-lhes a vida. 10 Então quebrarás a jarra na presença dos homens que foram contigo 11 e lhes dirás: Assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos: Deste modo quebrarei este povo e esta cidade, como se quebra a jarra do oleiro, de modo que não mais poderá ser refeita; e os enterrarão em Tofete, pois não haverá outro lugar para enterrar. 12 Assim farei a este lugar e aos seus moradores, diz o SENHOR; esta cidade será como Tofete. 13 As casas de Jerusalém e os palácios dos reis de Judá serão profanados como o lugar de Tofete, assim como também todas as casas sobre cujos terraços queimaram incenso a todos os astros dos céus e fizeram ofertas de bebidas a outros deuses. 14 Então Jeremias voltou de Tofete, para onde o SENHOR o havia enviado para profetizar. Pondo-se em pé no pátio da casa do SENHOR, disse a todo o povo: 15 Assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos, o Deus de Israel: Trarei sobre esta cidade, e sobre todas as cidades ao redor, todo o mal que disse contra ela, pois se endureceram para não ouvir as minhas palavras.
