Okrzyk ten był tak głośny, jak huk pioruna. 2 I zobaczyłem jeźdźca na białym koniu. Na głowie miał wieniec, a w ręku trzymał łuk. Wyruszył, aby odnieść kolejne zwycięstwo. 3 Gdy Baranek złamał drugą pieczęć, usłyszałem głos drugiej istoty: „Ruszaj!”. 4 I pojawił się koń ognistoczerwony. Jego jeździec dostał do ręki miecz i wyruszył, aby odebrać ziemi pokój i sprawić, że ludzie będą się nawzajem zabijać. 5 Gdy Baranek złamał trzecią pieczęć, usłyszałem, jak trzecia istota powiedziała: „Ruszaj!”. I zobaczyłem czarnego konia oraz jego jeźdźca, który trzymał w ręku wagę. 6 Następnie usłyszałem głos dobiegający od czterech istot: „Dzień pracy to bochenek chleba lub trzy kilo mąki. Nie marnuj oliwy i wina”. 7 Gdy złamał czwartą pieczęć, usłyszałem głos czwartej istoty: „Ruszaj!”. 8 I zobaczyłem sinozielonego konia. Ten, który na nim siedział, miał na imię Śmierć i reprezentował krainę zmarłych. Dano mu władzę nad jedną czwartą ziemi, aby zsyłał na ludzi śmierć. Jedni mieli zginąć w walce, inni—umrzeć z głodu lub z powodu epidemiami, jeszcze inni—rozszarpani przez dzikie zwierzęta. 9 Gdy Baranek złamał piątą pieczęć, zobaczyłem ołtarz, a poniżej niego—dusze ludzi, którzy zostali zamordowani za to, że byli posłuszni słowu Bożemu i opowiadali innym o Chrystusie. 10 Głośno wołali oni: „Święty Panie, jedyny i prawdziwy Władco, kiedy ukarzesz tych, którzy nas zamordowali?!”. 11 Wszystkim im dano białe szaty i powiedziano, żeby odpoczęli i przez krótki czas zaczekali, aż dołączą do nich ich przyjaciele, którzy również służą Panu, i—podobnie jak oni—również zostaną zamordowani. 12 Gdy zobaczyłem, że Baranek złamał szóstą pieczęć, rozpoczęło się ogromne trzęsienie ziemi. Słońce straciło swój blask, jakby ktoś zasłonił je czarną płachtą, a księżyc stał się krwawoczerwony. 13 Gwiazdy zaś spadały na ziemię jak owoce z targanego wichurą drzewa. 14 Nagle zniknęło niebo—jakby było zwojem papirusu, który został przez kogoś zwinięty. Góry i wyspy zostały przesunięte ze swoich miejsc. 15 Przywódcy i władcy świata, wybitni dowódcy, najbogatsi i najbardziej wpływowi ludzie—wszyscy oni, razem z niewolnikami, poukrywali się w jaskiniach i grotach, 16 marząc tylko o tym, aby zasypały ich przewracające się góry i spadające skały. W ten sposób chcieli bowiem ukryć się przed obliczem Tego, który zasiada na tronie, oraz przed gniewem Baranka. 17 Nadszedł bowiem wielki dzień Ich gniewu i nikt nie był w stanie uciec przed Ich sądem.
