Revelation 8 (MNG)
1 Als das Lamm dann das siebte Siegel öffnete, trat eine Stille im Himmel ein, wohl eine halbe Stunde lang. 2 Und ich sah die sieben Engel, die vor Gott stehen; denen wurden sieben Posaunen gegeben. 3 Dann kam ein anderer Engel und trat mit einer goldenen Räucherpfanne (oder: einem Weihrauchfaß) in der Hand an den Altar heran, und viel Räucherwerk wurde ihm gegeben, damit er es für die Gebete (oder: zu den Gebeten) aller Heiligen auf den goldenen Altar bringe, der vor dem Throne (Gottes) steht; 4 und der Rauch des Räucherwerks stieg für die Gebete (oder: zu den Gebeten) der Heiligen aus der Hand des Engels vor Gott empor. 5 Hierauf nahm der Engel die Räucherpfanne, füllte sie mit glühenden Kohlen vom Altar und schleuderte sie auf die Erde hinab; da erfolgten Donnerschläge und Stimmen (oder: Getöse), Blitze und ein Erdbeben. 6 Hierauf machten sich die sieben Engel, welche die sieben Posaunen hatten, fertig, um in die Posaunen zu stoßen. 7 Und der erste Engel stieß in die Posaune: da entstand Hagel und Feuer, mit Blut vermischt, und wurde auf die Erde geworfen; da verbrannte der dritte Teil der Erde, und der dritte Teil der Bäume verbrannte und ebenso alles grüne Gras. 8 Und der zweite Engel stieß in die Posaune: da war es, als würde ein großer, feuerflammender Berg ins Meer geschleudert; und ein Drittel des Meeres wurde zu Blut, 9 und ein Drittel der Geschöpfe im Meer, die Leben hatten, starb, und ein Drittel der Schiffe ging zugrunde. 10 Und der dritte Engel stieß in die Posaune: da fiel ein großer Stern, der wie eine Fackel brannte, vom Himmel herab und fiel auf den dritten Teil der Flüsse und auf die Wasserquellen; 11 der Name des Sternes lautet ›Wermut‹. Da wurde der dritte Teil der Gewässer zu Wermut, und viele Menschen starben von dem Genuß des Wassers, weil es bitter (= giftig) geworden war. 12 Und der vierte Engel stieß in die Posaune: da wurde ein Drittel der Sonne und ein Drittel des Mondes und ein Drittel der Sterne (mit dem Bann) geschlagen, damit der dritte Teil von ihnen sich verfinsterte und der Tag während des dritten Teils seiner Dauer kein Licht hätte und die Nacht ebenso. 13 Hierauf sah ich hin: da hörte ich einen Adler, der hoch oben am Himmel flog und mit lauter Stimme rief: »Wehe, wehe, wehe den Bewohnern der Erde wegen der noch übrigen Posaunenstöße der drei Engel, die noch blasen werden!«
